Recently bought a new oven - the old one blew up just before Christmas (well lots of blue flashes and stopped working) - and was rather constrained as to type because it was fitted. The new one is the same make as before but all computer controlled with a half inch thick handbook. (The old oven you just turned on, set the temperature and left it to it.)
So far, I've only managed to set the clock. After three weeks, I'm still using the microwave and the hob. Currently refusing offers of assistance because I'm determined to crack it.
Except - I mentioned the microwave ? It has a defrost function. I can see the words among the many on the front. Can I use it? I can not. Can't work out how to get defrost only among the 'plated meal' and 'pizza' functions etc. (The old microwave just had a timer and four settings: I may resurrect it from the basement.)
I now watch the washing machine carefully. It's showing no signs of imminent death but I just know that any new one (leaving aside the expense) is going to be virtually unusable due to shining displays and functions.
And I can't even discuss the steam cleaner (a recent treat.) It's out of the box but still disassembled while I try to get to grips with the handbook. (One page of small print safety instructions alone before I get to what fits where and how to turn it on.)
Is everyone else multi-competent on these? I'm feeling alonel-y thick.
