I think its quite funny - only the daily mail could take this seriously, i think it was a joke. Most of madhouse customers probaby live with their mothers anyway.

goonies · 07/03/2012 11:22

wasnt it meant as a joke?

LittleTyga · 07/03/2012 11:22

Really? I don't think it's funny at all - it just drumming home the point that women are put here on this Earth in order to serve our men - bollocks to that!

OP posts:
LittleTyga · 07/03/2012 11:23

Well the joke could have been '.....or throw them away and buy a new pair'

Saltire · 07/03/2012 11:23

I thinkit's funny and probably meant as a joke which has backfired.

girliefriend · 07/03/2012 11:25

If its a joke its not funny and makes me quite Angry

betterwhenthesunshines · 07/03/2012 11:25

Quite funny - where's everyone's sense of humour gone?

And true: DH is allowed to hang the washing up, but has to be strictly monitored when he does do the washing after I haven't bothered as it all ends up the wrong colour, towels at 30 degrees, shrunk jumpers etc!

Lueji · 07/03/2012 11:26

It would make more sense if they had written:

Or
Give them to your woman
She is the only one with a brain/able to read instructions.

Saltire · 07/03/2012 11:27

Oh yes I never let DH near the washing machine, and if I go away I have to leave very very very clear instructions for him how to use it

betterwhenthesunshines · 07/03/2012 11:27

Bin liners:
tuck inside dustbin -

betterwhenthesunshines · 07/03/2012 11:28

Lueji :o

LittleTyga · 07/03/2012 11:29

Nothing wrong with my sense of humour Better - this is not funny - and btw my 6 year old can operate my washing machine and put a wash on - Reall? a grown man can't do a wash? that is shocking!

My husband has now 'got in' to doing the laundry, following a long redundancy. It is very useful, though I do blush when I come home and find all my undies blowing on the line. I have tried to explain the nuances of line-hanging washing (things like bras we dry indoors or discreetly in a corner of the garden that can't be overlooked) but he doesn't get it.

Still, it's to be encouraged.

LittleTyga · 07/03/2012 11:30

Fucking hilarious.

That's my no 1 prority when I buy trousers - they gotta make me laugh. Or is it cry?

betterwhenthesunshines · 07/03/2012 11:30

Saw a card the other day. 50s retro type.

Mummy with child asking "Mummy, what will I be when I grow up?"
"You're a boy darling, you'll never grow up."

Quick, burn the building, how offensive Shock but funny

LST · 07/03/2012 11:31

I found it quite funny. Grin

Chocobo · 07/03/2012 11:32

My DH does the washing so would not apply for me. I think as far as things go it is a bit annoying that this sort of thing is still seen as being humerous and is rather immature humour playing into gender stereotypes about housework which really should not apply anymore (but sadly probably do).

However how would people feel about it if it was racist such as

"give it to a black person - it should be their job"

or something similiar. Would people find it funny and if not why not?

MadameChinLegs · 07/03/2012 11:34

I like it. I like the fact that humour can be added to the most mundane places. That is what this is, ladies, a joke. Not serious. If you have an other half, or a son, who would take this as a serious instruction, then more fool you.

Also, what man ever actually looks at this label??? Bet it was found by a woman.

SinicalSanta · 07/03/2012 11:36

Stupid stereotyping

betterwhenthesunshines · 07/03/2012 11:36

LittleTyga - but it's not supposed to be taken seriously!

Why is not funny to say "give it to your woman it's her job" but you do find it funny to say "Give it to your woman as she's the only one with enough brain to understand the instructions" ?

They are both broad sweeping derogatory comments based on gender generalisations. They are both funny, if you don't take it too seriously.

LittleTyga · 07/03/2012 11:37

Good point Chocobo.

I'm late for work - got to go - will answer that later!

OP posts:
SinicalSanta · 07/03/2012 11:40

Exactly chocobo.

Stupid gender based 'jokes' are just so tired, the last gasp of the I'm Mad Me bore.
They are too boring and overdone to qualify as funny - so what do they achieve? Nothing, just another tiny drip in the totally unnecessary 'genderwar' ocean.

LST · 07/03/2012 11:43

Just don't let it bother you!! I'm blonde I get blonde jokes ALL the time. Just let it go over my head! Much bigger stuff be worrying about, not some joke that some people take too seriously.
