...virtual hugs on Mumsnet, and that it is not 'unMumsnetty', but is in fact in the nature of us all to reach out to comfort a person when he or she is down.

I'm with Maryz. Hugs are lovely and definitely essential at times, but throwing them about wily-nily in a NetHuns stylee does devalue them.

You know if you get an 'unMumsnetty hug' from someone, it's a considered and meaningful hug.

fallenpetal · 06/03/2012 22:48

Hmmm I dont care if it is reasonable or not...

The petal shall hug or x anyone she deems fit .... unmumsnetty or not Grin I really dont care if people think Im soft

In fact Im so hormonal today id probably hug even in the broken nail scenario! LOL

IamtheZombie · 06/03/2012 22:48

Hedley has terrifically thrilling buns??? Zombie is impressed.

Zombie gives her patented zombiehugs to everyone on this thread.

Zombie gives extra hugs to her Dustbin friends. You know who you are.

SlightlyJaded · 06/03/2012 22:48

Oh. XPosted with everyone Grin

FannyPriceless · 06/03/2012 22:49

Well put, Maryz. Only for very special occasions. Not chucked about like confetti.Grin

I don't think I have ever said 'unmumsnetty' in reference to a hug. But I don't object when I see it. It helps keep it real and signal to newbies that hugs are for when they are sincerely, genuinely needed.

MrsDeeBee · 06/03/2012 22:50

Maryz

Nope, never been to netmums. Heard the horror stories here and decided to give it a miss. Grin

I don't give them out willy-nilly. But equally, I am not afraid to offer a hug, should someone need one.

I am given to understand that Hedley's terrifically thrilling buns are 'awesome' Zombie Wink

buttonmoon78 · 07/03/2012 00:12

Are those the waving things and baby counters etc? I've heard of them.

ViviPru · 07/03/2012 00:15

I'm tempted to lift the lid myself and get me one of these zombiehugs. Or might that create a potential boundaries issue?

HedleyLamarr · 07/03/2012 00:34

Sorry I don't have 'terrifically thrilling buns'. Unfortunately. Hmm I just think that offering a virtual hug, where appropriate, makes both the hugger and hugge feel a little bit better. And as for turning MN into Nethuns, no, just no. That place gives me a headache just thinking about it. The colours, the tickers, hun, lol, txtspk. No. Fuck the fuck off. Oh yes. The fucking swear filter. Are they not adults?

I do not dish out hugs willy-nilly.

:o

But Vipers can't hug - no arms, see?

izzyizin · 07/03/2012 01:56

I'm easily impressed, Hedley, and I have no doubt your buns would look terrifically thrilling to me... Wink

izzyizin · 07/03/2012 02:01

With regard to your 'willy-nilly', that remains to be seen Grin

CaoNiMa · 07/03/2012 02:59

Hugs are for Huns.

HedleyLamarr · 07/03/2012 09:30

Izzy I am in awe of the great work you do on the Relationships board. You and AnyFucker are vair wise.

As for the buns, they're not all that. As for the willy-nilly, well... :o

Agree and disagree!

Definitely shouldn't over-hug, just makes you a letch. Let's face it, we all know an inappropriate over-hugger, bleurgh.

However, at the correct time and place hug away! Don't give 2 shiny shits whether it's MN'y or not!

(disclaimer - I haven't had a proper hug in over 3 months, I wander the streets looking needy in the hope of attracting the attention of an inappropriate over-huggy stranger)
