to expect a powder puff when I buy pressed powder

I usually use a proper foundation make-up liquid thingy, but felt the need to give my skin a break. So I bought a compact pressed powder, and got home only to discover that I can't use it as it doesn't come with a powder puff or a sponge thingy. Presumably the assumption is that I already have one at home. But I don't because I'm a complete numpty with girly things - I have a brush. AIBU to find this annoying?

I can't believe I'm posting about makeup...

Hmmm that's unusual actually - what brand? It could be that it should be sold with an applicator and said sponge is missing. I've never had a powder that didn't include a sponge thing (though I tend not to use the one that comes with).

I guess that depends what you bought. For example mineral foundation (which is fantastic, I never use anything else) uses a special brush (kabuki brush), so you do have to buy that separately - although I think one make-up manufacturer provides a really crappy one with their 'pretend' mineral make up. (I say 'pretend' as it is combined with other ingredients that block the pores which is totally contradictory to the whole point of mineral make up).

But normal powder? I would assume that would come with an applicator too.

Its Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder. There is no indication that it is a refill or anything like that on the packaging.

Ha! I bought the same product on saturday, and also didn't even think to check that it had a puff. I am putting it on with a blusher brush and it seems fine.

You're expected to have your own applicator. Same with blushers. You buy the blusher and use your own brush.

Just an aside - Procrastinate - Brilliant name - is it a reference to the Smiths song Osscilate wildy? Because that would be even more brilliant, given that its my best song name ever.

Thanks, and yes it is. I spend a lot of time procrastinating, but unfortunately not as much of it listening to Smiths songs as I used to. Will have to start palying some again and get ds indoctrinated Grin

Use the brush. You don't need a sponge applicator for pressed powder.

You only need a sponge thing if you are getting a compact foundation. But they aren't very nice anyway.
