who has brought his own teabag to her lesson.

he didn't realise I was in the kitchen and claims he wouldn't have said anything had he known I was here.

admittedly our teabags were 37p for 100 in Lidl and aren't particularly gourmet but still,

AIBU?

Yabu I hate cheap tea bags. I buy a lot of value products but have to have proper tea!

WorraLiberty · 05/03/2012 17:07

YABU

Cheap teabags are generally disgusting Grin

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2012 17:07

Tell him to bring a flask next time. Sad I would be a bit miffed TBH.

spanky2 · 05/03/2012 17:08

I make guests make their own tea because I don't drink tea and when I make a cup it is disgusting. The removal men refused to drink my tea! Some people are fussy. Take no notice, just be grateful you are not his wife, imagine having to cook for a man that fussy!

fedupofnamechanging · 05/03/2012 17:08

I think it was rude - surely he can wait until he goes home, if your tea isn't 'good' enough.

peeriebear · 05/03/2012 17:08

Cheapo teabags usually taste rank. I bought happy Shopper ones once and binned them.

keepingupwiththejoneses · 05/03/2012 17:09

Deeply hurt! Get a grip, if you choose to buy rubbish tea then he is entitled to bring his own.

Bluebell99 · 05/03/2012 17:09

Yes YABU to be deeply hurt and insulted over a teabag, particularly given your teabags are so budget. It doesn't really matter though, you have saved yourself a cheap teabag.

I don't know. If he comes often and has to put up with tea he doesn't enjoy I don't blame him really.

IMO though coffee and tea is usually passable as long as it's made correctly and isn't drowned in milk.

halcyondays · 05/03/2012 17:09

I haven't tried Lidl's teabags but even my dad, who would drink almost anything, didn't like them. Have you tried Sainsburys Basics teabags? I think they are very good and I am fussy about my tea.

TheAlmightyBob · 05/03/2012 17:10

he's just arrived from Bournemouth for some unfathomable reason, but seems to have planned ahead, or maybe he always carries Teabags around in his pocket.

I'm used to NHS tea so can drink anything,.

I don't accept offers of a brew when I'm in someone else's house. It's usually made incorrectly with poor quality tea.

I would never bring my own though.

'deeply hurt and insulted' is a tad of an over-reaction though.

BackforGood · 05/03/2012 17:11

Of course YABU (hopeful this was a tongue in cheek question ?)
I only drink de-caff tea, and not many people have it in, so a carry a little pot around with me if expecting to be offered tea out. No-one's ever been offended!

TheAlmightyBob · 05/03/2012 17:11

I'm not really deeply hurt nor insulted. I just thought it was amusing that he got all embarrased when he realised i was skulking in the kitchen.

tiddleypompom · 05/03/2012 17:11

Spray him with frebreeze in retaliation?

(not suggesting he smells as such, but it would be a satisfying squirt to cause similar offence)

AllDirections · 05/03/2012 17:12

YABU, I wouldn't be at all offended.

toddlerama · 05/03/2012 17:13

LOL! I'm sorry you feel hurt, but you didn't pick and mill the tea, you bought it very cheaply and now it'll go even further because you don't have to offer him one.

I'm a piano teacher and used to get a cup of tea every 45 minutes at each house. Many were left...not because I'm fussy, but how much tea can I drink??? It was always waiting for me, not like I had the opportunity to say "no thanks, just had one."

He could have had the grace to pretend it was special/caffeine free/super medically necessary tea though Grin

ABatInBunkFive · 05/03/2012 17:13

I think you need to think of a good tea related murder then bury him under your patio, nothing less will do.

MadameMessy · 05/03/2012 17:13

Lidl tea bags are my tea bags of choice... Yanbu!

NettoSuperstar · 05/03/2012 17:13

I really dislike tea other than twinings earl grey, I'll drink it if I have to though.
He was rude.

Kennyp · 05/03/2012 17:13

Ditch the bastard.

I always have my own tea bags wherever i go as i will only drink one type.

You've saved 0.00037p or whatver it is. Every cloud, and all that jazz.

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2012 17:14

How long is the lesson? Is tea really necessary?

toddlerama · 05/03/2012 17:14

Revenge could be anti-bac wiping his chair ostentatiously as he leaves...

TheAlmightyBob · 05/03/2012 17:14

he once commented favourable that i offered him tea as the people he teaches before don't even offer. poor chap.
