Men wearing hats to a wedding?

Have name changed for this.

We're going to a wedding in a couple of weeks, the bride has just sent out a reminder email saying things like don't forget to book taxis, accommodation etc.

The email also says: 'p.s. don't forget those hats - that's both genders please!'

Since when do men wear hats to a wedding? If the dress code was morning dress I could understand it, but there has been no mention of this.

AIBU to think this is weird? Or am I missing something?

My son has a great knitted hat that has animal from the muppets on it. Can lend for a special wedding weekend only.

Ds would be happy to help.

Am loving the suggestions above, but maybe she was just trying to be all inclusive on her email (perhaps someone said to her that she shouldn't be sexist and assume only women were going to wear headgear?)

I don't think bridezilla-ness can be inferred though from the fact that she sent an email - she might have just felt it was nice to follow up a formal invite with a reminder to friends like me that put the invite away in a safe place and then have to ring round other friends for details of the do when I can't find it

But if she IS a bridezilla, you know you have to update us!!! When's the wedding?

??? at bride in the OP, but very interested to know what the heck she's on about!

theressomethingaboutmarie I think you need a new hat. A big hat. With lilies. And a mantilla always looks very nice, especially a black one.
