Watching rugrats ATM ( ds is ill) and there was the story of the Passover.
It said Moses sent alot of plagues and then something about killing all the first born unless you marked your door. Then Moses lead the babies to freedom but got to the red sea and made the water separate and that's how they got there freedom.

Which made me wonder how accurate are children cartoons

Well that sounds fairly in line with the Biblical story of Moses leading the Hebrews out of Egypt. Whether you think that is accurate is a whole different debate Grin.
The Pharoah enslaving the Hebrews is on record as historical fact, it was Rameses the Great iirc, and I used to know the dates too but have forgotten. At least 7 of the plagues can be explained by science given the right combination of circumstances, so it all comes down to what you believe personally.

I don't really know alot about religion, but am learning alittle and the more I learn the more confused I get.

Like murder is a sin, but god murdered Adam because he disobeyed one of gods rules and that why there is death now

Erm, God didn't murder Adam!!

Kaloobear · 04/03/2012 22:40

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the apple and so were expelled from the Garden of Eden into the world-they lost immortality this way so death is a direct consequence but it's generally viewed as their sin that caused it (or Satan) rather than God being a murderer Grin

(I should add that I don't actually believe any of this.)

GrimmaTheNome · 04/03/2012 22:41

The bible story is that God sent the plagues and killed the firstborn of Egypt.

I don't think I'd rely on a kids cartoon to be accurate about anything, least of all bronze age mythology Grin

God told Adam & Eve not to do something (eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil). By doing that they stopped living in blissful ignorance. They would grow old & die like we all do. If they hadn't disobeyed they would have lived for ever instead of dying one day. (I think Hmm)

The Bible teaches (in Genesis 1:29?30) that the original animals (and the first humans) were commanded to be vegetarian. There were no meat eaters in the original creation. Furthermore, there was no death. It was an unblemished world, with Adam and Eve and animals (including dinosaurs) living in perfect harmony, eating only plants.

Sadly, it did not stay this way for very long. Adam rebelled against his Creator, bringing sin into the world (Genesis 3:1?7; Romans 5:12). Because of this rebellion, Adam, and thus all of his descendants (you and me), gave up the right to live with a Holy (sinless) and just God. God therefore judged sin with death.

The Bible plainly teaches from Genesis to Revelation that there was no death of animals or humans before Adam sinned. (Consider just a few of the many passages, such as: Romans 5:12; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 1:29?30; Romans 8:20?22; Acts 3:21; Hebrews 9:22; 1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 21:1?4; Revelation 22:3.) This means there could not have been any animal fossils (and no dinosaur bones) before sin.

After Adam?s sin, animals and people started to die. It was now a different world, one of death and strife. A world that was once beautiful now suffered under the curse placed upon it by the Creator (Genesis 3:14?19). But a promise was given (Genesis 3:15) that God would provide a way for the penalty of sin to be paid so there would be a way for man to come back to God.

it what i found out while reaserching dinosaurs and the bible

McHappy - the people who make the cartoon s may or may not know the story well, so it's hard to say how accurate they are (as with any TV programme/film.

Is there someone at your local church who you could talk to & ask questions?
