not canvas, not sandals, not uggs, not black. Just a nice looking casual leather shoe. Like you can buy formlittle girls and for grown ups. But not for those in the middle. Why???

What shoe size are they?

Ouluckyduck · 03/03/2012 20:25

2 1/2 and 4. To be fair, I found some in the adult section for dd1, but for dd2 today I went to three shops, nothing.

Have you tried John Lewis or Russell & Bromley - they had lovely casual shoes although not much good for dd who is an "H" fitting. For your older daughter - try Office, H&M, New Look, etc..

What does a casual leather shoe look like?

foreverondiet · 03/03/2012 23:05

My DD is 8 and it has never occurred to me to buy her casual leather shoes - she probably last had when she was in nursery school.

She has school shoes. And black leather boots for smart (also wears with jeans). And trainers. She also currently has lelly kellys that were a birthday present. And that's enough shoes!

I think the answer is that you can buy for little girls as they wear for nursery/pre-school. I can't justify more than 3 pairs of shoes for my DD when her feet are growing. Also much easier to buy in the winter, in the summer casual shoes are canvas/sandals.

clarks

what sort of thing is she into?
i bet she could get some nice DMs or kickers etc

This is driving me nuts. Like one of the posters above, DD has school shoes, boots and trainers but I can't, for the life of me, find her a pair of party shoes. She is 9 with size 5, H width feet and there is nothing that fits apart from school shoes. Even those are hard to find in a wide enough fit. I've even resorted to trying adult shoes on her but they are usually too wide. The only place I could find boots for he was in Tesco, everything else was far too narrow. We are going to a big evening event tomorrow and she'll end up wearing her boots with her party dress and if those look wrong then it will be school shoes.

Louisea have you tried New Look - they do a wider fitting range and the shoes are trendy without being too grown up.

new look sell little pumps / party shoes, I used to get them for dd

Have you tried Brantano?

They have a wide range of choices and prices.

Very topical, OP. I'm just about to head out with my 7 year old and her size 2s to try and find the summer equivalent of the boots she's been wearing for the last 3 months. Something smartish but good for running and tree climbing, that will support her feet, look pretty and age appropriate. I don't hold out much luck. I did find some lovely ones stocked by a local shoe shop, but at £60 a pair, which is crazy for children's shoes.

Ouluckyduck · 04/03/2012 21:26

Exactly gubbins. In one shop the shop assistant agreed with me that there was a gap in the market.
