I like a good generalisation, tbh. I think when people make sweeping statements they are doing just that not a concrete statement that they apply to all in a category.

Middle class kids are entitled, for example. It's not true of all of them but them moreso that say working class children.

I think thread titles are just to shock and attract traffic. Wishy washy thread titles do not make people post, so 'Middle class kids are entitled' is an attention seeking title. And I still reckon people post a generalisation about a group in opposition to their experience of another group as opposed to a yardstick to measure all within a group.
