to think shame on me

As a treat we went to the local sweet shop after school and because I am stupid and she asked nicely I handed a Kinder Egg direct to 18 month old DD2 in her pram to hold until she got home.

Stopped for a quick chat on the way home to neighbour and when I got home was handed a tiny piece of chocolate by DD2 with a wobbly lip and tears in her eyes. Clearly indicating the Kinder egg had been opened and mainly lost on the way home.

So I hand over my small Freddo Frog chocolate bar my weekly treat to DD2 to replace her lost chocolate. She scarfs it down.

Then I find the Kinder Egg Plastic bit with toy in my coat pocket, where she hid it after she ate ALL the chocolate. So she has now eaten two lots of chocolate AND has a little toy.

Weep...she is 18 months old and fooled me.

Anyone want three children, one is very sweet and quite devious proud mummy icon ;)

Icelollycraving · 01/03/2012 17:28

Clever girl :o

CrockoDuck · 01/03/2012 17:31

And she's 18 months old???

Wow....smart little cookie. My son was about 7 before he first tried a trick like that on me!

Think you should start saving for those Oxford fees, bless her.

(Bet you're secretly impressed with her brains, though, right? I would be!)

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 17:37

Nah, she was crying because she'd broken the egg (DS1 used to cry if a breadstick broke in half). You just misinterpreted.

Shame on you for giving an 18 month old chocolate Wink

Babieseverywhere · 01/03/2012 18:19

It was a masterful performance of lost chocolate and brave little girl, I WAS impressed. :)

"Shame on you for giving an 18 month old chocolate"

LOL, She is my third neglected, feral child practically weaned onto chocolate. and eats a wide range of suitable food. ;)

Ah, well if she's your third, then Machiavellian abilities probably do explain it

ilovetopost01 · 01/03/2012 19:41

Gangster in the making! :)

AKMD · 01/03/2012 19:45

Excellent. 2yo DS came shopping with me today and while we were in the car asked if he could have a rabbit (one of those small gold Lindt rabbits that have come out for Easter Hmm). I said if he had a rabbit today then he wouldn't get one tomorrow when we did our main shop. After a bit of discussion he decided that that was ok because I could just buy two rabbits today! I think not... 'Twas a good solution though :)

NoMoreInsomnia12 · 01/03/2012 19:48

Nursery staff once asked DD1 "Is this your cardigan?" she apparently said "Oh yes, granny bought it for my birthday". She was 2. It was not her cardigan. I returned it the next day Blush

peeriebear · 01/03/2012 19:54

Smart child :) But what's this about having a Freddo as a weekly treat?! I think they were allowed more chocolate than that in rationing times...
Last year DH went to collect DD2 (then 4) from a soft play wher she'd been to a birthday party. The lovely mum told DH "She's been missing her Daddy, she's been sat with me for a while asking when you were coming".
As soon as DD2 saw DH she beamed "Daddy! ...Have you got any money?" She had seen a coin-op candy floss machine by the exit!! Mercenary little swinelet. She is normally nice! :)

Smile

When my DSIS and DB were little DF gave them a chocolate biscuit each.
DSIS scarfed one straight down and reached out for the other one.
DF told her "no put that back you've eaten yours"
DSIS (aged about 7) replies "No, I've only eaten DB, this one's mine" Grin

HowardWolowitzsPHD · 01/03/2012 20:14

Eaten DB's not eaten DB Blush

Babieseverywhere · 01/03/2012 20:42

LOL, love the stories keep them coming :)

peeriebear, I'm overweight and 4 months pregnant with DC4 and trying to limit weight gain to reasonable levels.

Don't worry about lack of chocolate in this house, DH laughed at my early story and then brought me a chunky kitkat (250 cals versus 100 cals for Freddie Frog...grrr)

Are you telling me she ate a kinder egg and there was no evidence around her mouth and hands? Sod the clever deviousness I am impressed with her cleanliness. My 5 and 3 year old would cover themselves in it still. Give her to me, I'll swap her.

BlueFergie · 01/03/2012 20:50

I'll swap them for her

UtterlyButterly · 01/03/2012 20:55

Even I can't eat chocolate without getting it somewhere usually on my chair without realising and it ends up on my arse Blush

Babieseverywhere · 01/03/2012 21:05

DD2 is very neat and tidy, nearly always uses her knife and fork whilst eating. Her older sister is very neat too

Just don't look over at her 3 year old brother who still shovels food in with his hands. Faster that way and he needs the energy for more running and climbing, more bugs to chase.

OP posts:
westonsorganic · 01/03/2012 21:07

I want to hire her :o

UtterlyButterly · 01/03/2012 21:23

I'd have her but I would have to hide all of my chocolate and I'd be too scared of her being able to trick me
