To wonder if we really need fifty pound notes?

I ended up with 3 x £50 notes. I had to change one in a bank because some shops didnt have the change. I spent one in Tesco, the self service dont take them (slots too small) so I went to a chashier who got up and left for 10 mins to check it was kosher.

They're a PITA. When I was working in retail, I would handle thousands banking up at the end of the day, rarely was there a fifty.

And money thats in tens of thousands tends to not be real anyway. Numbers on a screen.

So, is there any point of the £50? Sure they're pretty. But they're a pain!

I worked at a holiday camp years ago and you'd see quite a few guys opening their wallets to pay for things and their wallet would be full of £50s, maybe £2000 in 50s. I was always surprised there wasn't more robberie or muggings.
