To dislike people sitting next to me in the GP's waiting room

In order to provide a little context... DP and I took our DD to the doctor for the first time today. She was fifteen weeks premature and has chronic lung disease and a weak immune system. We've only just got her home.

Now I know that she doesn't come with a sign and we debated about not going into the waiting room (breeding ground of germs that it may be...) but it was fairly empty so we chanced it.

We deliberately sat on the far side of the room. There were about ten empty seats on either side of us, not to mention the other few dotted around amongst the other folk waiting.

So why the feck did a lady decide to sit right next to me? Why? Why did she proceed to cough a horrible phlegmy cough? Why do people do this?

Should I have said something? Or should we have moved?

Jeez, it's like empty car parks...

So aibu or are there other's who are freaks?

In that case crashdoll can I borrow you? I'm trying to encourage DD to smile. Apparently it's one milestone she can meet (not that I'm worrying about her development or anything, oh no siree, not me...)

I buy 2 seats on the aisle at the cinema because i can't stand anybody bashing my elbows, grrrr.
And they have a seperate table and chair for reading the health leaflets at my surgery so i always nab that seat as it is away from everyone else thankgod.

Oh kindred spirits on this thread indeed... Shock

I like people very much, in abstract only. I want them nowhere near me, EVER... Grin

I don't think I could ever live in London again, I've gotten too used to having my personal space oop norf!

YANBU. I say that as someone who actually told off a man who decided to sit next to me on the bus when I was pregnant after getting on and announcing to his pals that he had 'the bird flu' ffs (there were empty seats elsewhere on the bus, he was just being a knob and wanting to sit next to "a wummin", which is twattish enough to start with). I don't believe for a minute that he had it but ffs, people could try and be a bit careful if they're obviously contagious.

This is a whole other AIBU, but Wibbly, your post is why I don't use public transport, unless I absolutely have to. I love my car, it loves me, we rub along just fine.
