David Rathband (the police officer blinded by Raol Moat) has been found dead. Of course everyones death is sad but AIBU to feel so sad about this case- he had been through so much and seemed such a brave and amazing guy :(

I think if people are going to donate to charity this week they should consider his foundation ,

Mrsjay · 01/03/2012 10:07

and yes quick the effect will just keep going on and on for years ,

I too felt very sad when I heard the news this morning. And once again, very Angry at Raoul Moat. As far as I'm concerned, Raoul Moat murdered P.C. Rathband. My heart goes out to his wife and two children. R.I.P.

I have been a bit teary about this this morning too. DD is only 4 months old, so I am still blaming hormones, I have been irrationally annoyed with the radio for having a Davey Jones tribute this morning too, The Monkees just seems the wrong mood for the rest of the news.

Agree, Mrsjay. I found it very quick and easy to do via Paypal and have also put a link on FB.

He tried so very hard - and some further good could come of this terrible situation.

Is "has been found dead" a euphemism for "suicide" ? News reports would seem to suggest sure.

herethereandeverywhere · 01/03/2012 10:19

It is very sad, and sad that he clearly didn't get the support that he needed for his fragile mental state. Whenever he was wheeled out on TV as hero of the moment he always looked, to me, like a man on the edge, so fragile and about to crack.

Sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues.

Mrsjay · 01/03/2012 10:23

bikerunski They cant really say he killed himself until its been investigated Sad it could be natural causes , they do that for all sudden deaths ,

BikeRunSki · 01/03/2012 10:34

Five Live are talking about it as if it were now, but i do see that they have to gloss over the cause until it has been properly ascertained.

YANBU

I have been teary when I hear it being announed on the news. His poor children Sad. They have seen his dad severely injured, their parents separate and now they have completely lost him. I am sorry for his wife and other family too.

What I dread now is the RM "fans" coming out and celebrating that he "killed a cop" in the end (if the suicide reports turn out to be correct).

mojitomania · 01/03/2012 10:51

Yes, this is a very tragic outcome Sad

fabwoman · 01/03/2012 10:55

mopbucket it has been reported that he wanted to live alone.

BikeRunSki · 01/03/2012 10:57

If anyone is listening to Five Live and is listening to the injured-retired off fireman talking about having his life taken away from him, you will be needing those tissues again.

PandaWatch · 01/03/2012 11:05

I don't think it's ever U to feel sad for the death of someone and the effect it will have on their loved ones but I guess we'd all be going round in a constant state of depression if we felt that way for everyone.

However, when it's something so high profile as this and you know more details about the person than you would for a random stranger I think it's perfectly natural to feel that way and anyone who says you shouldn't just because you didn't know him personally is a bit off IMO.

So, so sad Sad
