I HAVE EXPLODED with Disgust at this WASTE of TAXPEOPLES TAX MONEY

rhondajean · 29/02/2012 17:56

Well we had one microwave between a class of I think 16 and the teacher had to supervise us putting th potato in and taking it out and she had to press the buttons to our instructions in case we broke the microwave.

We did get to stick the fork in the potato by ourselves...

Pagwatch · 29/02/2012 17:57

I am not sure microwaves had been invented when I was at school. It was home economics and we had to wear pinnys that we made in needlework.

The feminist section would just combust wouldn't they?

TotemPole · 29/02/2012 17:58

At my school every Christmas they did a party for the old people, they sang carols, did plays and we provided a buffy!

storminabuttercup, is that incase any of the oldies turn into vampires?

ripsishere · 29/02/2012 17:58

Microwaves?
My school had gas ovens, insuffiecient to have one each, but ovens nonetheless.

BupcakesandCunting · 29/02/2012 17:58

Pag had to cook on fire made my rubbing stick and stone together.

Pagwatch · 29/02/2012 18:01

It's true.

I got told off by my home economics teacher because I tripped over my pastel flowery platforms and dropped a pint of milk.
This is like a history lesson isn't it

rhondajean · 29/02/2012 18:06

I think the reason we used the microwave is we had crappy electric ovens that took the whole hour to heat up.

Pag, I am very jealous of your hand embroidered pinny, it sounds very Kirsty allsop.

Pagwatch · 29/02/2012 18:10

Oh yes. Very Kirsty Grin We also made our own summer dresses.
Can you imagine the focus and concentration in those classes. If you fucked up you had to wear it all summer.

Aerobreaking · 29/02/2012 18:17

We spent every afternoon for an entire term building a swamp (do I mean swamp? Like a bog garden type thing) on one of the school fields when I was in junior school. And this was early 90s so not that long ago I like to kid myself when really it has nearly been 20 years since the early 90s
Tis one of my best memories of school, and I did learn stuff (that I have never used again but still) :)

rhondajean · 29/02/2012 18:17

You have just reminded me. We made knitting bags, and a cushion that was a cat.
Nothing I could wear though. Deprived.

Hullygully · 29/02/2012 18:24

Oh god. Sewing.

I got banned.

IAmRubyLennox · 29/02/2012 18:36

At my secondary school we spent an entire half term sewing on paper towels, with a sewing machine, without any thread in it Hmm.
