To feel a bit sad about this?

DS(9 mo) and I were in the supermarket yesterday and I was amusing him by being silly and singing songs. We passed a woman with an older child, probably 2 or 3yo, who was eating some broccoli leaves, which I thought was amusing. The woman noticed her child eating and shouted at her 'I've already told you not to eat broccoli leaves, what are you, simple or something?'. I was a little shocked and saddened that she called her child simple for doing something that wasn't harmful, just amusing and probably quite nice. I didn't say anything as it's obviously not my business but AIBU to be sad?

YABU for thinking it's appropriate to eat produce in the supermarket. The child should pay for those leaves.
