To wonder why i have to boycott World Book Day tomorrow

Only i happened to click on a link the other day to the mumsnet rules, and it is there - I have to boycott World book day.

Now to be fair, im quite happy to boycott it, i cant be arsed to find my DD a costume, but then she came down clutching (now i really am going to be banned) a disney princess book and told me she wanted to go as ariel - result!! We have costume. I was howver considering sending her in her normal clothes and saying that she is "Lucy Pevensie" from the lion witch and wardrobe and just getting her to take a toy lion. I did after all name her after Lucy.

DS1 loves dressing up, but his school isn't doing costumes for world book day. I feel like I'm missing out!

Why do the schools have to narrow the dressing up choices? It's Heroes at DS2's school. His hero is a footballer but no football kits allowed. One of the suggestions is Steve Redgrave.

We are not doing costumes either, we did last year and I discovered that home bargains do a wonderful Harry potter for 4.99!!

I generally forget even though it's the same time every year and DS is terrible for actually giving me the letters so it's quite a relief not to have to do it!

LOL at Steven Redgrave I think he's amazing but I'm struggling to imagine the outfit for a Steve Redgrave lookalike I can't see too many primary aged boys agreeing to go to school in a leotard and leggings style outfit
