I'm FURIOUS!!!!!! Anyone have dealings with NellyPot?!

I bought a £12 Groupon voucher in early November last year that entitled me to £60 off of any bag on Nellypot.com.

I tried to order several bags - each time the Groupon discount code was rejected as "invalid". I e-mailed customer services seven times over the course of a month before finding out just before Christmas that "a water pipe had burst all over their servers" and they had lost the use of their customer services e-mail address. Bearing in mind at this point every single bag I wanted has sold out, and my voucher expired at the beginning of January.

I complain on their Facebook page and my comment is deleted. I complain again - it's deleted. I complain a third time and they finally comment on it apologizing profusely.

They set up a new e-mail address that I contacted them on, and they sent me a new code to use so that I could have the £60 deducted from the total. The day before the voucher expired a bag I wanted came back into stock, so I ordered it, even though I'd still have to pay £15 extra because the bag is worth £75. I'm informed it will arrive in 2 weeks.

I check Facebook to say "Thank you" and discover that their entire Facebook page has been deleted. I'm a bit "hmm" but I place my order...and wait. And wait... and wait... and wait...

I started e-mailing them asking where my bag was 4 weeks after I ordered it. I was first told that it would be dispatched before February 1st. When the order status was still listed as "payment received" by that date, I e-mailed again. It had now changed to February 10th. I e-mail again when it doesn't turn up. No reply.

I have now e-mailed their customer services a grand total of 16 times. 10 of these I received a reply for. The other six have been unacknowledged.

And now the website has mysteriously vanished as well! Apparently my browser "can't find the website you're looking for"...

This is ridiculous! Anyone else had such bloody problems?! Because right now I'm about to flippin' scream!!!!!

I've never heard of them, I think I would of demanded a full refund rather than let is drag out this length.

StealthPenguin · 29/02/2012 09:19

I would demand a full refund... except they have no contact other than the e-mail address that no longer works and a website that no longer exists!

Def take it up with Groupon and get your original money back. I'm really wary of Groupon deals now- I bought one last year for a sofa, which was supposed to be delivered, but then they put the date back a week...then another week...then sent out a strange email about how they were suspending deliveries until Jan. I got the fear at this point and demanded my cash back from Groupon (we're talking £250!) and whaddya know, last week I got a letter from solicitors informing me that the company were in liquidation. I think a lot of these companies who know they're in trouble use Groupon to get a huge cash injection and then just bugger off with the money...

I've chucked Groupon now. I bought an MP3 for my Sis for chrimbo as she does a lot of running and her old one fell down a drain ( Don't ask! Hmm )

Anyway, it took nearly 2 months to arrive and then didn't work and I had the Devil's own job getting a refund as well as being outed as a total cheapskate for buying pressies on cheapo dicount sites. Blush

Fecklessdizzy · 29/02/2012 11:01

discount! Stupid keyboard.

verytellytubby · 29/02/2012 11:23

I've given up in Groupon and KGB Deals due to shoddy deals.

maddening · 29/02/2012 13:03

you can do an indemnity via your bank on debit card payments, their bank pay your money back and then they owe their bank, not sure of any restrictions but worth asking your bank?

RedGurnard · 29/02/2012 13:39

Another one here who has stopped using groupon. I once drove for an hour and a half to get to what was supposed to be an hour and a half beauty treatment only to be told that, because I hadn't turned up 10 mins early to fill in paperwork (which I hadn't been told) it was cancelled.

I suspect it was more to do with the full paying customer who was waiting. As aoo as you say it's a groupon you get treated like scum.

DELHI · 29/02/2012 13:49

If the deal looks that good it probably doesn't exist- sorry OP, but no such thing as a free lunch and all that....

MissB75 · 29/02/2012 14:51

Hola, my friend bought me and herself a nellypot voucher last year........... We never got our bags and she never got her refund for the extra value and postage! I got mine however. She did get a refund from Groupon but since her complaint they have allowed them to 're-advertise' so I'd be very wary. No point asking your bank to intervene, they won't help, I tried that!

StealthPenguin · 29/02/2012 15:12

Thanks for the advice all - I've used Groupon/KGB Deals/Wowcher about 50 times since they started. I've gotten discount photography courses, a discounted makeup tutorial class, calendars, earrings, necklaces, gift vouchers for a Spa, driving lessons and all sorts of things! This is the only thing I've ever had an issue with when it comes to Groupon. They've been faultless before, so I'm inclined to blame Nellypot rather than Groupon.

What does everyone think?

Dear Sir or Madam,

On December 5th 2011 I purchased a £12 voucher that entitled me to a £60 reduction from NellyPot.com.

I then e-mailed NellyPot as the Groupon Code was not working, and they gave me a new code to put in. I then purchased a bag and a bag charm for a total extra amount of £17.90. This was on January 5th 2012. I then never received my bag, despite NellyPot claiming it was dispatched around February 10th.

It has been eight weeks since I placed my order, and despite me e-mailing them numerous times, I have received no reply. I have now discovered that their website is no longer accessible and their Facebook page has been removed, so I have no way to contact them.

I would like to be refunded the £12 I spent through your esteemed company. I am also opening a payment dispute with my bank regarding the extra £17.90 that Nellypot have essentially stolen from my account.

I would like to make it clear that I have no issue with any part of Groupon as I and my family enjoy using your website. Nellypot seem to have deliberately defrauded you as well as the honest customers that you deal with and I would seriously suggest you remove all contact with this company.

If it is more convenient for you, I will happily accept £12 worth of credits onto my Groupon account, which is registered with this e-mail address, rather than having a full refund.

Thank you for your promptness in this matter.

Stealth Penguin.

if this is for groupon you won't need to send a letter, just a ring them up. They are really good about refunding.

ChuffMuffin · 29/02/2012 18:21

Their whois info points to a PO Box no. :(

But there is a number, don't know if this is anything to do with them - 0844 884 4918.

They're not registered on Companies House, well at least under NellyPot.

StealthPenguin · 01/03/2012 07:00

See, even more suspicious is the fact that it isn't NellyPot on my bank statement, but "www.seenretail.co."

I've tried going there but the website isn't active. I've tried googling it and got absolutely bloody nowhere...

Getting a bit stupid now!

Have heard of lots of companies having massive problems after using Groupon, where they completely underestimated how many people would take up the voucher options and the company then either goes bust or has a lot of trouble trying to keep up with demand. Sounds like this might be the case here. I'd be asking Groupon for a refund.

StealthPenguin · 01/03/2012 08:37

Ah, Mini - there's more to that story than you think.

Firstly, Groupon make it clear that you cam impose a limit on to how many vouchers can be sold. It's then up to the retailer to say how many or how few vouchers they can sell.

Secondly, NellyPot are not one of those companies, as proven by the fact that I've seen deals on KGB and Wowcher in the last month advertising almost exactly the same deal.

Sneaky much?

OP posts:
porcamiseria · 01/03/2012 08:46

lesson learned: dont deal with unknown firms on the internet Sad

ChuffMuffin · 01/03/2012 10:10

Sevenretail.com are the same people who owned NellyPot.com. but there's no data for them, they've paid to hide it.

Sorry :(
