Well I have spent hours on here today avoided writing essay and just been all over and now realised some may think I am a troll

Tee2072 · 28/02/2012 15:16

Have you acted trollish?

ilovedarthmaul · 28/02/2012 15:16

Why? What makes you think that?

piprabbit · 28/02/2012 15:18

If everyone who hangs around MN too much is branded a troll, the site will be going very, very quiet.

Salmotrutta · 28/02/2012 15:18

Well, I have wasted away a day profited from spending time on MN some useful online resources for my work.
I expect I could be accused of being a hairy bridge-dweller too Grin

P.S I only work PT and I can MN if I want to

Salmotrutta · 28/02/2012 15:20

Just kidding about the Troll shout by the way Grin

imnotmymum · 28/02/2012 15:20

well read a post saying someone been "all over giving advice" new to MN not sure what troll was not said anything bad just well maybe giving advice but did not want to be seen as troll as not -just really nosy and full of crap/good advice What makes a troll a troll??

OP posts:
technoduck · 28/02/2012 15:22

Ive been on here all day and I don't think your a troll.
Disclaimer- I work from home, Having today as my day off!

UtherTheTerrible · 28/02/2012 15:32

Perhaps the person that said that is a little too invested in Mumsnet. If they're keeping an eye on someone they haven't seen before posting during the day as if it's some kind of suspicious activity then that's a bit OTT.

mojitomania · 28/02/2012 15:36

I've been on here at work all day. I've not noticed you or seen anything untoward. I also only write short one liners most of the time. No-ones called me a troll lives in hope Grin

TheresaMayHaveaBiscuit · 28/02/2012 15:43

OP I saw that comment and thought they meant me :( It's probably not either of us though ...

CatVonB · 28/02/2012 15:44

I was on mumsnet all day yesterday - maybe I'm the troll as I posted lots (by my standards) yesterday. Didn't know that I'm not supposed to post if I'm newish...

Boomerwang · 28/02/2012 15:48

There's been times I've been fixated on this site because there are loads of great threads. I have passed hours and hours this way. I've been a member for less than a month and I have already organised a 'watching' list, have a method of clicking every thread and 'hiding' anything I'm not interested in or can't help with, I bookmark the bottom of every thread I do like in case I go back and I select the 'chat' forum to concentrate on one day, and the next day I'll do 'AIBU'... there's just too much to fit in all at once!

I think I have a problem :(

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 28/02/2012 15:49

A troll is someone who makes stuff up, or deliberately winds people up, or posts controversial stuff for the sake of it.

Not just a matter of excessive posting on the site (I'm sure mine reaches a peak when I have an OU assignment due in!)

CatVonB · 28/02/2012 15:50

Boomerwang Grin

ShirleyO · 28/02/2012 15:51

I think they're talking about that twat jwsh15 or whatever it's called actually. It's not exactly giving advice, more being a provacative wanker.

HTH

sensuallettuce · 28/02/2012 15:53

I have been on here all day as have had day off work to have Mirena removed/fitted.

I am not a troll - at least I don't think I am Hmm

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 28/02/2012 15:56

I thought that too, Shirley, but you're not supposed to speak the name Shock

sensuallettuce · 28/02/2012 15:58

Which thread?

I also have a problem Blush

ShirleyO · 28/02/2012 15:59

If it wants to wander the boards being a nobhead, I'm sure it won't mind me saying I think it's a nobhead.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 28/02/2012 15:59

A troll is someone who makes stuff up, or deliberately winds people up, or posts controversial stuff for the sake of it. posting a lot does not a troll make (or I'd have a label too) Grin thats waht people post for, to get replies so we all keep em coming, hopefully constructive, or funny but I too spend far too much of my time on MN

SparkyTGD · 28/02/2012 16:01

OP, what Shirley said,

also 'trollish' type posting that people are likely to notice would normally be posting very OTT threads and not really commenting on others threads.

imnotmymum · 28/02/2012 16:18

Thank you everyone was not sure glad I am not the only one addicted and I will put my insecurity to bed and try and not come on here until I have hoovered and done a 1000 words

OP posts:
PeanutButterChocolate · 28/02/2012 16:26

Oh, I'm glad you posted this OP! I feel the same way. A few weeks ago amidst all the troll-talk I actually convinced myself that everyone thought I was a troll so I flounced deregistered.
Because I have no will power, I was back two days later under a new name and posting all over the place again. I suppose to anyone who's curious I look to be a very prolific and knowledgeable newbie promise I'm not hairy.

PeanutButterChocolate · 28/02/2012 16:27

Good luck with your essay!

Boomerwang · 28/02/2012 16:29

Could you all please stop posting for ten minutes, you're messing up my active conversations list.

Thanks in advance.
