To have tried to dry and dress my ds in a changing room "claimed" by a pink bag?

After ds's 2nd swimming lesson all the changing rooms had other people's bags in, but no people. There are signs up asking people not do this. I had a shivering 4 year old (only his 2nd lesson and if I'd known we're female changing room was I'd have taken him there). I ended up going in a a room with a pink rucksack and no owner. Rather than dumping bag outside door I left door open as was going to be quick. Woman comes striding over and chucks me out saying she'd claimed it 5 minutes ago. Her 13/14 yr old dd comes out of pool and they use the room. So I ended up sharing another with a mum of 3 who I didn't know. The pink rucksack mum was so rude and the other mum was really nice, and said shed heard it all.

I wish I'd stood my ground and dumped the rucksack outside door now. Spoke to customer services as I had to set up direct debit for lessons and they were wanting to go find this woman.

AIBU to think this was queue jumping and this woman's attitude was awful?

You were being unreasonable to allow her to barge in and eject you. Why did you? I'd have elbowed her into the pool if she got that arsey with me, the manner less cow.

You should have moved the bag out. I dont know why you left the door open, it sort of makes it look like you didnt think you should ahve been usig the changing room and so probably encouraged them to be rude.

" There are signs up asking people not do this "

Quite clear then.

She was in the wrong and lucky you didn't throw her bag out.

" Woman comes striding over and chucks me out saying she'd claimed it 5 minutes ago. "

Amazing. What a cow.

If that had been me in the room, she would have had a very sharp response.

As a matter of interest, what did she actually do to " chuck you out ?"

MamaMaiasaura · 25/02/2012 16:09

pendeem Verbally chucked me out Blush not physically. I was a wimp.

Shouldn't have left door open, I see that.

emay there was a bloke blocking door to a changing room "reserving" it.

Next week I will not take any shit trouble. Just hate confrontation especially infront of dc

yanbu.

Never fails to amaze me how many people 'bagsie' changing rooms then leave them. Especially as we live in a skanky town and it's easy pickings for thieves.

picnicprime · 25/02/2012 16:18

If you really want to be rude right back, tap the sign that says don't do this, and then ask if the idiot can read.

Sannebana I might suggest this where DS has his swimming lessons. In there everything is spread across the tiny bench, not even put in a bag!

Same situation every single week there and it gives me 'the rage'. Angry There are lockers to use and I think I am the only mug that uses them!

I cracked last week and started using the disabled changing room. He has a disability and often needs 'cleaning up' when I get him out of his swim nappies. He's in 9-10 clothes so not really appropriate to do this in a communal area. In the past I've just taken him into a taken cubicle, locked the door and got on with it but DS fusses the whole time that we're in there that it's for someone else, and you can't swing a cat as bench is covered in stuff so it's standing room only.

Oh how I hate it.

OP - you need to practice a look. I have a fab one that strikes fear into any heart,

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 25/02/2012 17:01

Next time, steal the bag. Or at least hide it. That'll learn em to use the lockers Grin

Squirrelz · 25/02/2012 17:11

Collect up all the bags and put them in one cubicle, let them fight it out amongst themselves :o

BleurghUna · 25/02/2012 17:13

YANBU OP. I would have put the bag out and locked the door.
Why don't people use lockers?
