To think that online retailers should give customers the option of seeing the clothes modelled by people their own size

I want to buy size 14-16 clothes. I am not a "niche" customer. I am mainstream. One of the masses. I shop online. I want to buy stuff that I look good in.

However, all of the clothes online are modelled by people who are tall and slim. Size 8. Usually, not desperately deep of bosom. So I see pictures of svelte, flat chested women looking fabulous in nice clothes. But what I really want to know is if curvy/chunky/haven't lost the pregnancy weight me will look fabulous in said clothes.

And it annoys me. The only place where I can see size 16 models is websites that only cater for "plus" sizes.

But not all people who wear the same size clothing have the same body shape either. So it wouldn't make any difference if they used bigger models - it wouldn't be an image of you wearing the clothes.

Now that would be a good idea.

I would like to know whether clothes are cut to fit apple or pear. That would be very helpful to me.

good idea

Agree - good idea!

But then they would have to hire more models, and pay for more photographers, and that would make them charge customers more.

Sorry, I'm a size 14/16/18 (dependant on shops, even a 12 some places) but I know my shape and know what will suit... if unsure I will begrudgingly traipse round shops and try stuff on, or accept that I'll probably have to return things if bought online.

One size 16 can be a very different shape from another size 16. The plus-size sites, which usually use 14/16 models always look very different to me.

I agree that it IS annoying when you see a size 8 model and you need a size 16 and therefore have no idea at all what it will look like on yourself, BUT I recently bought a coat, online, size 16, from a plus size company... the model appeared to be about a size 16. The coat fits perfectly, but the ARMS, my goodness the arms!! The size 16 model must have very very short arms or I must have very very long ones.

You cannot expect any company to showcase their clothes on every size and shape, because there are so many differences. Unless you are willing to pay a heck of a lot more for your clothing to offset the cost to the company.

I'm not denying it would be lovely to have an app that could 'fit' clothes onto your own unique bodyshape, that would be amazing.

YABU - would cost them more, they are a business, they use models as people buy the clothes to look like them. FWIW I think all models should be a high street 10/12 which would give a better message to young women/girls.
