Yes, I'm a hypocrite. I use the abbreviations.

But is hunning, hugging and lolling is frowned upon on MN, how come we're all talking about our "darling" family members.

Or is it being used in an ironic sense?

I've seen these abbreviations for years, long before I came on MN. Thought they were a bit twee but eventually just got used to them (a bit like LOL).
Didn't use them till I joined here though (probably because I didn't have children before!). I only use DD1/2 and DH.
