Of course YABU, but it's not about reason, is it? It's about emotion. You can't help how you feel, reasonable or otherwise. Cheer up though, she's your big baby now! My mum told me that I would always be her little girl, even when I was bigger than her. I thought that was nonsense until I had my own DCs...

I never gave my ds's away. He is 11 now and it's in the loft Blush

Oh god I'm dreading days like that. DS is growing so fast I really can't believe it, it seems like I blink and he's an inch taller! I cried when he started crawling and when he walked, both because I was happy and because I was very very sad. I am delighted to see him growing so well, but waaaaaaaaaah I want my baby back!!

CailinDana · 23/02/2012 11:51

Although I'll probably avoid the buggy thing - our is so battered I don't think anyone will want it!

valiumredhead · 23/02/2012 11:52

I also cried when I realised we had no more bottles in the house Sad

Busybusybust · 23/02/2012 11:55

I've been crying all morning because I have had my (32 yo) daughter on the phone from Christchurch NZ, saying that she can't take any more and is frightened all the time.

littlewish · 23/02/2012 11:56

YANBU, my boys are 11 and 18, their prams etc went years ago and I find it easy to give away toys and games but for some strange sentimental reason I can't get rid of the books from their younger days Confused. I absolutely loved reading to them when they were little and I cannot part with thoses stories we read together!

Elderberries · 23/02/2012 12:00

Oh dear Busy I hope she is OK.

CailinDana · 23/02/2012 12:08

Busy - it might be worth starting your own thread, if you think it'll help. Hope you have some real life support, that really sounds hard.

Pandemoniaa · 23/02/2012 12:45

I hope she's OK, Busy. Is there any way she can come over for a visit?

It's an issue close to this family because ds1 (who is shortly to come home from NZ) spent 6 months working as a loss adjuster on the Christchurch earthquake claims when he was in Auckland earlier last year. He was down in ChCh earlier this month and reported that things are still very tough, not helped by further earthquakes. So my sympathies to your dd.

Wait til you realise you'll have to carry your own shopping!

the first day DS went to school and came home, as I was clearing out his lunchbox I could see his teeth marks in the crusts of his leftover sandwiches. Oh god it still fills me up years later to think of that.
