I mean why. Really. Dullsville. Can you tell I went to one today? That 1.5 hours could have been fun.............

I used to go to really tedious business lunches you had to mingle with a load of people you only ever met at these lunches. Then eat a luke warm three course meal while listening to a dull presentation and desperately trying to make notes and think of intelligent questions and deal with the smarmy sales people. And generally no drink even thought the best thing on offer was the wine. In the worst one I threw a hissy fit at the end when they offered all the men cigars, but not the women. This was only just pre the smoking ban.

Oh no I loved my expense account, I still have to do lunch meetings most days but it's more M&S sarnies than nice meals out.
TBH when i was starting out in my career I only ate because I got to entertain clients, don't know what I would have done without the company american express card.

I had one today. It was delightful. Fish restaurant. The host told me to start with the crab soup. I did and I don't regret it. Continued with the hake on lemon risotto. Blardy marvellous. I love risotto and cook it frequently so was ready to be sceptical. Was delicious. I won't tell you about the raspberry jobby at the end because you'll only be envious. Three courses when normally one would be an effort. Delightful company. I'm going out for lunch tomorrow as well. Can't wait!

When I was on my 'Year Out' placement I had to go with one of the partners to a monthly site meeting at a huge retail development his firm had designed. I was by far the youngest there and the only female in a room full of men, I had to stand and listen to:

The current job and / or their biggest and showiest projects ( mildly interesting as most of the people there were vastly experiences and highly paid qualified).

Cars (only very faintly interesting as I am a litle bit of a petrolhead)

and

Football ( utterly tedious and uninteresting )
