to film my neighbours in the shower/on the toilet and put them on You Tube?

My house backs on to another, there's approx. 50ft between us. Their bathroom window backs on to my garden. They have no curtain or blind in there and every time they shower I can see them, plain as day. It's worse at night as they have the light on so I can practically see every hair on their arses when they get off the toilet and wipe their furry backsides.

I tried to ignore it. In fact I ignored it for about 3 years. But last summer I went round and told them that I could see straight into their bathroom, and they might like to think about putting a blind up. I was very "english" about it and probably sounded like a female Hugh Grant. They weren't in the slightest bit embarrased or apologetic, and they insisted that it was OK as they have obscured glass. But, they did say that they'd put a towel up over the window when they were in there. Which they did for a while.

And now they don't. There are at least 3 of them in that house, more when the grown up daughter has her boyfriend to stay. They seem to spend hours in the bloody bathroom - every time I go out to the bin, every time I look out of a window, there they bloody are - naked and either wiping their arses or lumbering out of the shower.

One of them is a dinner lady at the Junior School FFS. And don't start me on the time they had super-noisy sex in the back garden (H and I got the toy binoculars out to see if we could spot them, but they were behind their shed so we couldn't).

So, WIBU to film the bastards and put them on You Tube, or should I break into their house and put a blind up when they're out?

UUrrrggh at eating crisps whilst on the loo.

I think you should tell the DC too, you've given them fair warning. Would provide much merriment in the lunch queue.

onadifferentplanet · 22/02/2012 08:50

We can see right into the bathrooms of the house behind us and the houses opposite in the evenings even though they have obscure glass.Going For a walk one evening shortlly after we moved here we spotted 6 naked men before we got to the end of the street! Our bathroom now has curtains and a blind.

throckenholt · 22/02/2012 08:56

I hadn't realised so many people spend their evenings naked in the bathroom ! I must have lead a very sheltered life.

When we built our new bathroom DH and I argued about obscurred glass - he wanted it, I wanted clear glass (so I could see out while cleaning teeth etc), and a blind. I won the arguement. However, x years on we have clear glass and rather tasteful blue polystyrene sheet taped on with gaffer tape (ie no blind yet). So I still can't benefit from the view, but at least the neighbours don't have to be entertained by our bathroom efforts (which sound severely lacking compared to much of the UK population :)). I did check whether you can see anything through said polystyrene from the end of the garden.

GavisconJunkie · 22/02/2012 08:59

Throckenholt I know! They all shower & poo (random order) every evening after dinner. It's the pooing naked (only pre or post shower, most ablutions appear to take place at least partially clothed!) that gets me!

EightiesChick · 22/02/2012 09:02

LOL at bouncy castle installed in the bedroom!

I think the public humiliation route is the way to go for all you folks suffering from exhibitionist neighbours. Mention to the neighbour 'I saw you eating those crips you love again while you were on the loo last night. Not very hygienic, is it?' or to the dinner lady 'Oo, DS said he could see you in the shower last night and was it OK to tell his friends?' Bet they will be out buying blinds sharpish. Otherwise take the advice about taking photos and putting them through the letterbox.

canistartagainplease · 22/02/2012 09:14

All over the country, sales of 4 foot blinds are going to take off.
I'de buy shares!
Such is the power of the MN shame patrol.

Poor OP. Forced to stand out in the back garden for hours with binoculars and probably a step ladder, just to bear witness to this unspeakable filth.

tethers I just snorted tea out of my nose when I read that Shock Grin

SarahStratton · 22/02/2012 09:21

Leering with toy binoculars is a tad odd. Although, having lived near a confirmed window ledge shagger, I can confirm that it becomes strangely drawing. Confused

GeekCool · 22/02/2012 09:25

Hahaha this thread is amazing. Imagine people being naked in their own houses. In the bathroom no less! Shock

Catsmamma · 22/02/2012 09:29

obscure glass is not a replacement for blinds

and neither are those wicker blinds.....you can see right through them too, when the light is on in the room.

My mother's across the road neighbour is a Scottish MP....i know a good deal more than I need to about his bathroom habits thanks to obscure glass and no curtains.

...I was minding my own business with a glass of wine in her sitting room...not out in the garden with binoculars.

confusedpixie · 22/02/2012 09:46

This thread is brilliant Grin

I can't believe that somebody eats crisps on the toilet The megaphone sounds great, and the house party! I also like the idea of a bouncy castle in the bedroom... Wink

I houseshare/lodge and in my last share we had obscured glass on the massive bathroom window that looked out over the garden, two other peoples gardens and a path down the side of the house (no neighbours at the back thankfully!) and had a shower over the bath with no screen (the DIY Dad hadn't got around to fixing it yet)

Every bloody day for three months I showered without closing the blinds. Then would spend ten minutes in the bathroom, naked, mopping up the water that had gone everywhere from the lack of a shower screen. Only to be told by the Mum the day before we left for Christmas that the Dad, who worked in the garden, had seen everything over the past three months to the point of knowing I had a large mole on my backside. He was just too embarrassed to say anything before that point and didn't know how to translate this information apparently! (Non-Native-English speaker)

I've never been so mortified in my life. I was so glad that they were leaving for a three month trip and I'm almost dreading seeing the Dad again because of it! Blush I can't believe people are using the obscured glass as an excuse to not use blinds!

SunRaysthruClouds · 22/02/2012 09:50

OP You must have very good eyesight if you can see their furry arses at 50 feet. I mean are anyones arses that hairy? Unless they are of a simian variety?

Must check mine later...

FannyFifer · 22/02/2012 10:02

"turrets bouncing" oh god I am giggling now. Grin

PMSL.Grin Makes a mental note not to squish boobs against frosted glass anymore while dh gives me one

SarahStratton · 22/02/2012 10:12

Some obscure glass magnifies Grin

throckenholt · 22/02/2012 10:14

Oh - this takes me back my student days in a shared house. Bathroom door had a clear glass window with a poster on it to cover it. We all used to routinely call out in sing song voice "we know what your doing" whenever we walked past. We couldn't actually see anything but it did make you squirm when you were the recipient. Glad to say I have grown up a bit since then Grin

flywiththecrows · 22/02/2012 10:14

Grin at 'Get your own sex. Weirdo'

OP - can't you just get a ladder and prop it up against the outside of the house and cover the window with a sheet.

If they won't sort from the inside, then you sort from the outside.

and ha ha at the poster who thought you were on about her minge.

Bring out the ginger Grin

elizadoulalittle · 22/02/2012 10:14

prehaps neighbours think dh has a really big knob Shock

Catsmamma · 22/02/2012 10:15

fanny assuming you are the same side of Scotland as me, it's no one local! :D

I have obscure glass which I hate and a blackout blind, so I know it's not me.

Paiviaso · 22/02/2012 10:16

Starting waving hello when they are in the bathroom.

SarahStratton · 22/02/2012 10:20

My first house with XH had that big bobble obscure glass in the bathroom. Big window, over the bath, with double thickness voile curtains. Second night there XH nipped out whilst I was in the bath.

He came back pretty sharpish, ran up the stairs and turned the bathroom light out. House was next to a footpath, and a few of our new neighbours were happily standing on the path watching the view. Confused

fuzzPigwickPapers · 22/02/2012 10:36

How old is DS? Could he get away with shouting saying "I saw Mrs Lunchlady having a poooooo" in an innocent way in the lunch queue, while being old enough to know not to dob you in?

witchface · 22/02/2012 13:07

Love the idea of covering the outside of the window with a sheet!

I have obscure glass and no blind - am going to have to sneak into the neighbours garden later to see what they can see!
