I want to tell everyone how well he is doing but of course one can't 'brag' can one.

Cheesy - If he was to go on to get any of these scholarships - long way off yet - then everyone at school will know as it is a competitive type of school that has a separate scholarship class for year 8 (no idea if this is common or not). The school is not shy of pointing out 'doing well' boys.
Out of school, then I'd probably tell friends and family.

He's got to get one first!!!!!
