To pass of Stroop Wafels as pancakes to my unsuspecting DC....

They are lush, don't need any form of mixing or flipping and look (in the eyes of a 4 & 2 year old) similar to pancakes.

I get caught out every bloody year with Shrove Tuesday then nursery go and remind them I am lax with my motherly duties.....

In my defence, they have never had Stroop Wafels cos I eat them all so will be considered a massive treat!

As long as your 4 year old doesn't expect 'flipping'.. go for it.
My 6 year old expects the full works and as a non domestic Goddess the kitchen is doomed and maybe one pancake will turn out ok...that will be his of course..

YADNBU They are freaking delicious.

Why would you want to pass off a waffle as a pancake? Make pancakes and be done with it, it's hardly rocket science! Grin

FredFredGeorge · 21/02/2012 15:46

Or just give them stroop waffels and call them stroop waffels, YWBU to lie about the stroop waffels, but no reason not to give them instead of pancales.

Dunno what it is but is sounds lush...am off to investigate :)

Ah but Manfinder, I have no eggs in and to go to the shops would involve having to trek there with said DC.

Fred, ISWYM. But its pancake day and DS will want a pancake. I may have thought of a solution however..... If I dig far enough in my freezer, I'm sure I can excavate a pack of Kingsmill pancakes. I will tell him about the Stroop Wafels and offer a choice. You pricked my conscience.

Coconutty - gorgeous Dutch caramelly wafer type things. Mmmmmmm

It's mean of nursery to remind them but pass the buck onto you. Last year I was all prepared only to find ds had made pancakes at nursery and dd at in reception class time and at after school club Wink.

So I'm not bothering this year!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 21/02/2012 16:13

I tried that littleduck and was never allowed to forget it and mine are 15 and 19 ffs. so I have just made the mix and set the table with all the required acoutrements and am fortifying myself ready for the 3 frying pan on the go to keep up with demand scene that awaits me later ARGGGGHHHH

littleducks · 21/02/2012 19:44

You are right, nursery did pancakes but dd had a supply teacher and didn't. So amid protests of "It's not fair" I dashed to the tesco garage at 6 and grabbed egg, milk, flour and a lemon.

Thankfully I have an enormous crepe pan so it was just one each and dh and I have thai green curry for dinner.
