To think this must be the worst meal ever.

Dh normally gets home at about 7pm. Dc have already eaten, I'm on a diet so do my own meals and dh cooks for himself.

Last night he came in and made the following:

Mashed potato, tinned tuna, raw onion, brown sauce and baked beans. All mixed together.

It looked like a plate of dogs vomit.

Dh insists this a acceptable meal. So MN jury is it?

I'm wondering why don't you do two portions of your meal and he can nuke it instead of him making up a meal that sounds horrendous. I think he is crying out for help.

choceyes · 21/02/2012 13:17

was it red onion? in that case it is acceptable.

I'd eat it...but without the brown sauce.

hiddenhome · 21/02/2012 13:19

dh made some sushi the other day. It consisted of the appropriate type of rice and seaweed, but he stuffed them with carrot sticks, crabpaste and philadelphia cheese Hmm

NotWell · 21/02/2012 13:21

My DH does it too. I call it Army Food because it looks like it should be in a billy can or whatever they're called!

Gross. Yanbu.

shakemyhead · 21/02/2012 13:35

Ha ha at sling it in a trough

angeloftheeast · 21/02/2012 13:35

My dh will quite happily eat chicken tikka sandwich filling together with mussels in a sandwich. He also once told me that although the spaghetti bolognese I'd made looked really good what would really top it off would be can of tuna mixed in. I kid you not. Luckily he knows he's weird and doesn't expect me to eat his gross food combos!

startail · 21/02/2012 13:55

DH has to kiss me before eating raw onions and I don't like brown sauce.
I have, however, made all kinds of cheese, tomato, ham and salmi messes with spare mash and a microwave.
I'd certainly add baked beans if I had any.

notso · 21/02/2012 14:07

Yuck.

My friends favourite slimming world 'meal' was a can of baked beans, a can of mushy peas and chip shop style curry sauce all mixed together, eaten hot or cold, with 3 syns worth of sugar puffs and healthy A milk for pudding. Disgusting, he did lose 5 stone in 5 months though.

SarahBumBarer · 21/02/2012 14:09

It's a hash. If you replaced the tuna with corned beef I would be well up for it. Alternatively if you replaced the beans with cheese I would be happy with the tuna version.

maras2 · 21/02/2012 14:47

DH.made lunch yesterday.Being Monday it was leftovers.Slices of gammon, boiled potatoes,2 fried eggs, mushy peas all covered and I mean covered with parsley sauce(packet). He's recently retired and is becoming rather creative cooking wise.

Chubfuddler · 21/02/2012 14:49

If that was a tin of corned beef instead of tuna it would a sort of corned beef hash. And yummy. I'm prepared to believe it tasted good with the tuna too.

I'm going to keep this thread for days when i am tempted to gorge myself half to death with cake.

Well....I would have a jacket spud with tuna and onions, maybe with beans as well. OH would have the brown sauce as he puts it on bloody everything but I wouldn't.

I have standards.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/02/2012 16:08

I can beat all of these with dh's concoction.

Chick peas in their own water, kidney beans in their own water - boiled into mush for half an hour until it resembles loose diarrhoea.

On toast.

That is it - no flavourings, no sauce, nothing else - absolutely disgusting - and it always makes me wonder why on earth I bother cooking at all if he's happy with that. Hmm

PeanutButterChocolate · 21/02/2012 19:27

That is truly horrible, Laurie. Quite healthy though, I suppose.
