No, 89p is half of £1.78.

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 19/02/2012 20:53

Half of £1.78 is 89p.

HTH.

squeakytoy · 19/02/2012 20:54

well, its 89p really, but you arent far off Grin

Catsmamma · 19/02/2012 20:54

90 pence is half of £1.80.

SoupDragon · 19/02/2012 20:55

YABU because, as has been pointed out, it clearly isn't.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 19/02/2012 20:56

I know the jeffing maths.

Angry

But would you be mathematically pendant when justifying excess purchases?

Huh?

Would ya?

Would ya?

Depends how accurate he was expecting you to be. Half of £1.78 is 89p, so if you were just saying 'about 90p' then he was BU.

On the other hand, if he was expecting you to be accurate, on past evidence, he was probably being unreasonable anyway.... Grin

GoingForGoalWeight · 19/02/2012 21:00

@ slamming cupboard doors etc

It is about £1.90 - i think his reaction is masking deeper ishooos.

poinsetta · 19/02/2012 21:00

Did you get 2 for £1.78 rather than one for 90p...good saving.

squeakytoy · 19/02/2012 21:02

It is a better saving than the olives in sainsburys the other week... 45p a tin, buy 2 for £1.50 Grin

And I took a photo of it as proof.. lol!!

poinsetta · 19/02/2012 21:04

olives in sainsburys the other week... 45p a tin, buy 2 for £1.50
perhaps that classed them as a luxury purchase

ChaosTrulyReigns · 19/02/2012 21:12

I saw the "offer" on olives too. Thought it was just our branch. So up and down the country not one member of staff noticed Confused

Mind you Tesco once did an offer which meant that the second bottle of £9.99 wine was 1p. That was nice.

You're doing all right I reckon chaos Grin

Grin at RustyBear's post

And yes I would be mathematically pedantic; that's the whole point of maths you know

baabaapinksheep · 19/02/2012 21:40

It is about £1.90 what is?? Confused

M0naLisa · 19/02/2012 21:44

Tesco at the min have Dr pepper for £1.98 or 2 for £2. mind boggles.

carabos · 19/02/2012 21:47
BikeRunSki · 19/02/2012 21:48

I have an enormous amount of baby shampoo I bought last summer when pg, when a big bottle was only 10p more than a small one, and was on BOGOFF.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 19/02/2012 21:49

You may be right cara, but I really didn't want to occlude the issue for the unarithmetical polloi.

YABU. Nobody likes a pedantic smartarse! Wink

Sanuk · 19/02/2012 21:51

Carabos - no, it still is mathematics as mathematics is the generic term. Arithmetic is a branch of mathematics.
