We have lots of Koreans in our area, and they do it a lot.

YANBU it is utterly disgusting and makes me want to heave. I used to wait at a bus stop each morning with some spitting teenagers, very nearly threw up once. Should have done it on his shoes to see how he liked my effluent, vile bastard.

I don't mind runners doing it - they have to, flies and gook gets in - and it's just saliva.

AND (shudders at memory) anyone who , on public transport particularly if sat next to me , clips their fingernails AND a clipping lands on you(or me )as happened recently, ! composing myself i offered said clipping to the person from which it had been previously attatched ,with depressingly expected result

It is horrible! I was outside DDs school waiting to go in (too early!) and a runner went past and spat just as he past us!

Agreed that when you are walking then it is utterly unnecessary and rude, but if you are undertaking vigorous exercise, you need to spit out the phlegm or you'll choke on it and often your throat is too dry to swallow.

The runner shouldn't have done it within such proximity to others, but it was neccesary, on a long energetic cycle ride I will discretely flob out some mucus.

Why can't the runner carry a tissue?

People who spit should be frogmarched to the nearest police station and have their nasal passages filled with quick drying cement. Or possibly horsewhipped. Or both. Are you getting the idea that I think spitting is vile?! And I don't give two hoots if it is 'cultural' or not. It is disgusting.

I think its should be an on the spot fine like they have with cigarette ends where i live, although its hard to police , yanbu spitting is vile ,

I can imagine they are. What I witnessed was no doubt an isolated incident otherwise I think H&S would have them shut down.

I've a friend in China, men and women spit all the time. He said spit is everywhere in the place he lives.
