To wish that we had a more vibrant opposition

I hate the coalition. I hate what they are doing.

I hate what they are doing to the NHS. I hate what they are doing to benefits for people with disabilities. I hate what they are doing to our education system. I hate what they are doing with the workfare programme. All fucking awful.

I watch the news regularly, I try to follow what I can. So why have I learnt more about what is going on from Mumsnet? Why aren't the opposition shouting louder? Why aren't they effectively voicing the protest that so many people around the country must feel? Why aren't they out and about, passionately arguing the case?

Where are they? And WTF are they actually doing?

YANBU. I think this all the time. I feel so let down by Labour. Never has so little been made of so much ammunition Sad. Why are we (including myself) not on the streets when we are being so utterly royally fucked-over? An hour with Private Eye makes you want to weep.

SalmeMurrikAgain · 18/02/2012 23:35

YANBU Sad

corlan · 18/02/2012 23:35

YANBU - really disappointed in Labour. I voted for Ed Milliband as leader and now wish I hadn't.

OkayGrrl · 18/02/2012 23:38

YANBU, I hate the Tories, I hate the Lib Dems, I hate Labour and I hate UKIP and I really hate the fucking fascist twats which are the BNP. I just hate them all for various reasons.

FreudianSlipper · 18/02/2012 23:38

i agree

for some reason maybe because we had it good for many years we have lost our fight, we did not need to take to the streets and now we do it jsut seems to much bother (myself included)

i am at university and even there of all places there is political apathy :( i long for the days from the 80's and early 90's when people were really passionate about politics i try to be but get ignored

OkayGrrl · 19/02/2012 00:15

I wish there was a party which honestly cared about the people but I don't think it has ever existed and I'm not sure it ever will, so most people try to go with who they think will do the least damaged.

I voted for Lib Dems I honestly believed they were in for a chance and that maybe they were a bit soft but they cared, I feel guilty for voting for them because I was wrong and I was an idiot I should have stuck with Labour even though they are not much better.

HoneyandHaycorns · 19/02/2012 00:38

Yes, so much to protest about, but barely any protest. :( I suspect that ordinary people (myself included) are more apathetic because they don't see any credible alternative.

I would like to be more politically active -like my parents were- but see nobody to align myself with. The Labour Party are practically invisible atm. The only positive thing that draws me to them is the fact that they are not the coalition.

I don't know if it is Ed Miliband's fault as leader, or whether it's something else, but I feel so let down. Let down first by the years of Tory Lite government they inflicted on us, and even more let down that they can't even fight the crap that the Tories are bringing in now they're back in power.

YANBU. I feel like the three main parties are pretty much the same. :(

I actually joined the Labour party (seemed closest alignment for my socialist leanings) at the time of the last GE because there seemed the possibility of the Conservatives getting in and when they did became more active locally campaigning etc. But really sadly I have to say I feel far more apathetic after 2 years of trying to make a difference than I did before. The Labour Party is a shambles from top to bottom IMO.

Can only hold out hope that people will only take so much before a credible opposition is forced to form.

HoneyandHaycorns · 19/02/2012 01:32

:( that's depressing staylucky. I hope you're right in thinking that a credible opposition will eventually emerge.
