To ask if this would occur to you?

A woman crashed into the back of my car the other week. We were both going quite slowly so there was minimal damage - a slight scuff on my bumper and and a teensy scratch on hers. Nobody was hurt and no point doing anything to the cars as damage barely visible and both cars over 5 years old,so we decided not to bother swapping details.

Now three people I've told this to have asked why I didn't take her details so I could put in a claim for whiplash! Really? Would you? I wouldn't do it and it never occurred to me.

So would it occur to you and would you go through with it? Just curious, I'm not judging ( on this occasion anyway!)

Someone went into the back of dh and our insurance company kept trying to encourage him to put in a claim for whiplash even though he was absolutely fine. "are you sure your neck doesn't hurt? Even if it doesnt hurt now it might start hurting in a few motnhs - you're better off claiming now." wink, wink...
the guy even offered to tell him what he needed to say to his gp...

Dh declined obviously.

I'd have swapped details but not claimed unless I was hurt.

This happened to DH and he thought his car wasn't damaged so didn't swap details. The next day it became obvious that his colour coded bumper wasn't fitting right. We ended up taking it off and leaving it off as it would have been £100s of pounds to fix.
