None of us really know eachother and donating any money is always a risk, never give more than you can afford and consider donating through a registered and reputable charity, like Anthony Nolan as opposed to a 'just giving' page. Obviously recognised or long term posters may ask and you can use your own discretion, but it's unadvisable (in my opinion) to give to a newly joined member.

Please be cautious, these are desperate times and some people will go to desperate measures to get money out of people.

And perhaps MN could have something in the internet safety/talk guidelines!!

Fair point, but just giving is a safe way to give money. My charity has just set up an account with just giving so that people can do sponsored events, you can't just set them up willy nilly.

We had to provide ID from the Trustees, show registration documents from the Charities Comission and show bank statements. Possibly other suff too, but it wasn't me that dealt with it so I can't be sure.

Please don't put people off donating through Just Giving. It is a wonderful tool for charities, and it costs them money to be able to use it.
