Rather than forcing the other person into the road? Angry

JarethTheGoblinKing · 16/02/2012 20:19

Sharpen your elvis and barge on through Grin

QuietNinjaLamp · 16/02/2012 20:20

Yanbu at all!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 16/02/2012 20:20

Arrgghh, *elbows

!

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2012 20:22

It's the High school kids that do it round here-very menacing. Sad Also they like to cross the road when they see a car coming, and cross very slowly on purpose in front of it, making the driver stop. Angry

QuintessentialyHollow · 16/02/2012 20:24

YANBU

Confuseddd · 16/02/2012 20:24

Shove through - They usually get the message. YANBU

BetsyBoop · 16/02/2012 20:25

Just stop dead when they are two paces away and make them walk around you. If they give you the evils say "surely you weren't expecting me to walk in the road so you can continue walking three-abreast?"

Cue hang-dog looks from the ignorant gits usually

featherbag · 16/02/2012 20:26

This happened to me a couple of days ago, I just carried on walking, when none of them moved I just stopped, as did they. I said 'well love, I'm not going to vanish into thin air, and I ain't walking on the road.' They stared at me for a moment then moved, didn't say anything (well, not in my earshot anyway).

SaltResistantSlug · 16/02/2012 20:27

I was going to post this myself the other day.

I just don't get why it doesn't occur to people to get out the effing way.

PurplePidjin · 16/02/2012 20:27

Sharp square handbag or carrier bag full of tins. Also useful for dealing with the fuckwits standing at pickpocket distance in queues

WyrdMother · 16/02/2012 20:28

Agreed, very annoying, also twosomes that swim next to each other in public pools so that they can have a chat and swim straight at you when there is nowhere else for you to go.

SaltResistantSlug · 16/02/2012 20:31

I was pushing pushchair today. Two dog walkers met in front of me, their dogs highly interested in each other, leads entwined etc. I just had to stand there whilst they exchanged pleasantries and attempted to stop their pets sniffing each other's arses. No acknowledgment whatsoever. I wanted to shout a PA "excuse me!!?" but didn't have the nerve.

ifancyashandy · 16/02/2012 20:33

AND if you do stand to one side to let them be selfish carry on, acknowledge me! Say Thank You, you rude fuckwits.

Makes me very stabby that.

mumatron · 16/02/2012 20:34

I was going to start a thread on this a few days ago.

it really pisses me off, especially when I have the pram with me Angry

I also get pissed off when I stop to hold the door open for some one and hoards of people pass through while I stand there like a right numpty waiting.

Beaverfeaver · 16/02/2012 20:36

If I am feeling brave I just walk straight into them. Dam inconsiderate fools.
It's the one thing that properly boils my piss.

I have even started making my feelings clear if people don't move by making loud obvious comments at the people who take up all the space and are not considerate enough to move.

The last time it happened it was two people pushig a pushchair each and with a kid on a trike next to them too. I had to wait for the cars to clear before I could get passed by walking in the road!

PurplePidjin · 16/02/2012 20:36

I had a quiet word with some scaffolders the other day who had blocked the pavement wheelchairs and pushchairs. In my defence, it was unexpectedly outside my friends' cafe detracting from their business Blush

chipmunksex · 16/02/2012 20:39

I knew I was right. What thoughtless idiots some people are.

I will put them on my list along with those people who grab the back of my seat at the cinema and pull my hair repeatedly throughout the performance.

whitesocket · 16/02/2012 20:39

YANBU! Have to admit it's often mums with their big buggies around here. Also, people waiting at bus stops, we live near a major bus route and they seem to think the whole pavement is their waiting area!

Earthymama · 16/02/2012 20:44

I was out with the kids I look after yesterday, a 3 yr old and two 8 yr olds and had to do an improvised training session with them. Grin
I spend a lot of time with the 3 yr old so he knows to stand close or stop as we pass people or elderly people approach us. The older 2 were oblivious!
So when we got up to an area with seating and a bit more room we talked about why we must take our turn on narrow pavements, wait to let people in and out of shops.
I think a lot of it stems from never walking any distance with their parents while we use public transport and I love walking.
It's so important to introduce good manners and empathy as young as possible. On the whole people enjoy seeing young children enjoying themselves and behaving well.

Almostfifty · 16/02/2012 21:22

I well remember back in the day (being very old now) when we used to walk home from Junior School past the big Senior School. They used to come out at the same time.

I used to put the walking boys behind me and push the pushchair straight into the legs of anyone who didn't move.

Funnily enough, after half a term they made way for me. :o
