AIBU not to flush the loo when I go for a wee in the middle of the night?

As it says really. I don't - because it's just a wee, and I don't watch the noise of the flush to wake everyone up.

However, we've recently had a new bathroom suite. DH says that leaving it will damage the loo since urine is corrosive and will lead to brown staining. I said I thought the staining (which we don't have, for the avoidance of doubt!) was limescale etc not wee damage and I think surely he's talking rubbish - it's a bit of wee hitting the water in there anyway for at most what, about six hours? (I don't pee neat ammonia FTAOD.)

Dumping three bottles of vinegar down a disgusting old loo shifted the crusted stained limescale lumps but it also stripped the porcelain surface, might try a bottle of coke next time.

the eroded porcelain wasa probably there all the time, but not visible under the limescale, so revealed, but not caused, by the cleaning. Limescale damages the glaze. I don't know why, it might be because the glaze is a bit porous (e.g. rust will stain pans and plates through the glaze, and you can remove rust stains with a rust-removing acid applied to the surface)

In our house, flush in the night for a number 2 but for a wee, it waits until the morning. Our toilet does sound like a waterfall when it is filling up though so very noisy and would wake everyone.

I'm firmly in the "flush it all" camp.

Relatives stayed over at Christmas and I was greeted in the mornings with someone else's wee that I could smell. Disgusting.

Not flushing at someone else's house is downright rude. If they weren't family I wouldn't have them over again.

If your DH doesn't like you to leave the loo unflushed the wee in the bath instead Grin

"then" obviously!
