OP posts:
GoingForGoalWeight · 16/02/2012 13:16

I like Anchor or Countrylife, i do not like Lurgypak.

MuslinSuit · 16/02/2012 13:21

M and S spreadable butter is the bees knees. Proper butter and it spreads! Tis fab, even if I have to remortgage to afford it.

I have Lurpak at the moment though. I thought it was pure butter but it's got veg oil in it

forward · 16/02/2012 13:23

Don't all speadable ones have veg oil - how do M&S make theirs spread?

GoingForGoalWeight · 16/02/2012 13:23

I remember Stork margarine, it was vile! Is margarine still on the shelves, i haven't seen Stork for years Envy yuck.

catgirl1976 · 16/02/2012 13:24

Countylife

emsyj · 16/02/2012 13:44

M&S spreadable butter is very yellow and tastes very different from Lurpak - so it won't appeal to the Lurpak fans IMO! I think it's rock bloody hard too - my DMum buys it and it never ever spreads straight from the fridge...

Flora Buttery is the work of the devil, am still Shock at the poster earlier who said they like it!!!!

Clytaemnestra · 16/02/2012 13:46

Utterly (udderly?) agree with the OP. DH complains constantly about how expensive lurpack light is but I can't eat anything else.

Must try Lurpack Lightest, hadn't heard of that!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 16/02/2012 13:46

Is lactic butter what the white/silver one is called as opposed to the foul sweet yellow foulness?

Jacaqueen · 16/02/2012 13:48

I hate all of those lighter, spreadable, buttery yucky psuedo butters.

Just buy a block of 100% butter, keep some in a butter dish at room temp, and if you are worried about fats or calories, use sparingly.

And dont let those 'healthy' olive oil spreads fool you.

Olive oil is meant to be poured. In order to get it to set it is processed to buggery. You would probably be safer eating the plastic tub that the stuff comes in.

The only exception is M&S spreadable butter which has been whipped to give it a spreadable consistency without adding any crap.

TheParan0idAndr0id · 16/02/2012 13:49

Yes, its called continental butter here.

losttheflickumdickumagain · 16/02/2012 13:51

Yabu, got to be Anchor here (definately not any of the light stuff).

porcamiseria · 16/02/2012 13:52

president unsalted

coraltoes · 16/02/2012 13:56

Butter in a butter dish. Always spreadable, lovely posh stuff with flakes of sea salt. Lurpak is grim.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 16/02/2012 13:57

The only butter I actively dislike is Anchor which just tastes like solidified grease. The Lidl one is lovely - when you run your knife across the top it spits salt at you. I swear the reason spreads taste so bad is because there's not enough salt in them. Having said that a decent quality unsalted butter on hot bread is rather lovely. Especially with honey.

I'm hungry now.

MamaLazarou · 16/02/2012 14:15

YABU. Lurpak is gross. It's got to be Kerrygold.

My husband uses Stork for pastry and it always turns out lovely.

Cherriesarelovely · 16/02/2012 16:06

Actually I'd never thought of that before OP but Lurpak is the only thing that I am "brand loyal" to also. It is gorgeous.

Cherriesarelovely · 16/02/2012 16:07

But for pastry I also use Stork.

MrsShortfuse · 16/02/2012 16:14

YABU. You should buy British butter.

gettingeasier · 16/02/2012 16:20

Aldis version is in same grey tub "Norpak" , I am not discerning enough to TTD !

DialsMavis · 16/02/2012 16:49

Butter DP grew up in a skimmed milk/ low fat Marge household. The total opposite to my family where my mum used to keep gold top from the milkman just for her, such is her love of all things creamy.

After 6 years I have finally dragged him over to the dark side!

Dolcelatte · 16/02/2012 18:19

Another vote for President unsalted, although Rachel's organic is also good.

Lurpak always reminds me of my grandparents - everybody used to have it in those days, I'm not sure there was much else on offer!

catgirl1976 · 16/02/2012 18:42

I do like the butter withthe big crystals of rock salt in it

D'Isgny (??) or something

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm butter and salt

GoingForGoalWeight · 16/02/2012 19:21

Stork is great for baking IMO but i do not like to use it as a spread :)

TheParan0idAndr0id · 16/02/2012 19:28

at the idea of stork on toast. Actual boak.

GoingForGoalWeight · 16/02/2012 19:39

TheParanoidAndroid
