To expect 10 yo ds to get food in his mouth and not on the floor?

That's it really. I am making him hoover al the rice crispies and crumbs off the floor and will do every day until her can get them in his mouth. And now I think about it I think I have posted about this before, how demoralising is that? I don't mind a few crumbs, even better if they were on the table, but it's like all over the floor masses and masses of them.

I know it's a small thing but with all the other household chore shite I really could do without having to hoover after every frigging meal.

No YANBU. I think making him hoover is a very good reaction, teaches him about consequences.

Kayano · 14/02/2012 11:15

I'm 26 and he sounds like me. Lol

carocaro · 14/02/2012 11:20

He just said he enjoyed it!

That's why I got a dog :)

mammya · 15/02/2012 13:03

He says he enjoys it? I'd take advantage and make him to the whole house...

NotWell · 15/02/2012 13:39

Yes...dogs make excellent hoovers. Ours ate everything DD dropped from her highchair but had the good manners to wait until she had been liften out. Grin

I read this as 10 mth old DS and was thinking whoa there, you have a budding genius on your hands what with the talking and hoovering... So don't stifle his creative experimentation!

But now I understand he is significantly older than this. So as you were.

carocaro, get one of those hand held vacuum cleaners. They're good for doing a quicky round the table rather than getting the big cleaner out.

You could give him toast for breakfast.

whackamole · 15/02/2012 16:31

YANBU. And it's not about giving him something else to eat, it's about basic table manners and not being a slob. It's also not about making the job easier for him by getting a handheld hoover.

BellaVita · 15/02/2012 16:32

God, DS1 nearly 15 is still like this - never known a kid like it. DS2 who is 12 hardly ever spills anything.

nickelDorritt · 15/02/2012 16:33

yanbu, but rice krispies are notorious for dropsies.

give him hoovering as his normal chore. Grin

flippinada · 15/02/2012 16:37

YANBU.

My 7 year old DS drops bits of food on the floor, I always make him pick it up.

I like the idea of a handheld vacuum cleaner as suggested by TotemPole!

mrsjay · 15/02/2012 16:39

Dd is 15 and despite a generous mouth, misses it with peas all the time.
She permanently has the dustpan and brush in her hand.
