Not to want to dress my child in leggings or skinny jeans?

I obviously ABU because leggings and skinny jeans are all I can find in the shops.
4 yo DD doesn't like things that cling to her legs, and likes her trousers to be soft. She won't wear jeans.
In any case I hate leggings with a passion, and I don't really like the skinny trousers either (although I love all the bright colours that are available at the moment).

Obviously I am committing a huge fashion crime by not liking them, but I seriously can't find any alternatives - we traipsed through town in the snow yesterday, and I have been trawling the internet...

Am I the only person who doesn't like them Confused?

Yeah, you're too fussy Cinnamon! Wink

I think it's just the way fashion goes at times. I sometimes struggle if things that are in fashion, at the time, are not to my taste because that's all that are in the shops. As an adult it's fine because you just have to wear what's already in your wardrobe and wait till fashion changes to find something that you like. A bit more difficult when you're four and growing out of your existing wardrobe!

3 year old Dd doesn't really do trousers either (apart from leggings oddly!). She just wears skirts and dresses with tights. She has a pair of trousers she will tolorate, jersy lined ones from Sainsburys (not much good to you though).

Do Frugi deliver overseas? Very expensive but their fabrics are always really soft and they do lots of fully lined trousers.

like these ones

I have the same problem. I refuse to put my 4yo in knee high boots and she suits bootleg better anyway, and it seems even harder if you're looking for age 7 with adjustable waists! Hope you get some to suit. I would have suggested Next.

Buy second-hand trousers that have been well worn in from eBay or similar places. They should be pretty soft, more so than brand new clothes.

Ooh, that Frugi website has some gorgeous stuff - exactly the right sort of thing! :)
And the delivery charge here is cheaper than most! Fantastic!

These jeans, for example.

Indith · 14/02/2012 09:42

:) I lust after their clothes for the dcs but have not bought any in years. When they were babies the price tag could be justified for the cloth nappies as their vests and trousers fitted over them and lasted about 3 different sizes of supermarket vests but I really can't buy them any more :(.

My dd (7yo) is exactly the same. She wears these

Gap has nice soft trousers that aren't leggings. Look in the boys' section too. Zara boys' section has normal cord trousers that aren't clingy too. I agree, the girls's sections tend to be a bit clingy atm.

Thanks for the recommendations - I have ordered her a pair of spotty velour joggers and a pair of stripy towelling ones, and am hoping the eye-watering price tag means they will last. DD is very excited.
Now all I need to do is somehow prise away the two pairs of trousers that these will replace, one of which is about 3 cm too short, and the other of which has a hole in the crotch, and is totally worn away around the knees and seat Blush.
