YADNBU fuming on your behalf

I had this. Drunken chef from the pub across the road denied all knowledge, until someone admitted the next day they'd seen him do it. Turned out the insurance didn't cover him (company van, he was not technically employed).

We pursued it anyway, agreed to go to court if necessary and finally, after my insurance premium had gone up by around £150 the other insurance company paid out!

Seven months after the incident, and 5 weeks after the insurance renewal, I got my NCB back and the difference refunded.

He lost his job.

Im fuming too OP. DS had his phone pinched the other day and I had to pay £25 excess. The victim is ALWAYS the looser!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 13/02/2012 15:07

This happened to me recently - someone went into my parked car. I'm still waiting to find out if they accept responsibility, they have another week to do so. I'm hoping it will be straightforward seeing as the police came to my house to tell me what had happened and they handed me his name, address and insurance details. Fuming on your behalf, and hope it gets sorted soon.

my charming next door neighbour dragged his lawnmower along my car, leaving some lovely deep scratches along all 4 side panels. 1k to fix. heard him do it. went outside. confronted him. he claims he didn't see it happen so he didn't do it....hmmmm

I feel your pain

and there's nothing I can do about it as he won't accept liability

so tempting to scratch his stupid gold stupid car back, but I'm a saint so I don't Wink

mum80 · 13/02/2012 15:25

I even have a witness. Only minor damage but sure it would still cost loads to fix.

Thanks everyone. Cars are a pain in the neck aren't they?

YANBU.

We have had one car hit twice in the past couple of months and then another hit once. People seem to think it's fine just to drive off. Never mind the owner having to pay 100's (sometimes 1000's) to repair the damage they caused.

Really, really annoys me and it seems to be becoming more common too.

Pascha · 13/02/2012 15:45

If you have a witness, keep pushing the claim forward. If they eventually find in your favour you will get the premium difference back and your NCB restored.

lesley33 · 13/02/2012 15:50

I had the same. If you are still disputing the claim get a quote from elsewhere. I did and was only charged about £20 extra on my premium for an active disputed claim.

mum80 · 13/02/2012 16:03

Thats a good idea. Assuming this won't impact on them pursuing claim on my behalf.
