I am absolutely knackered - tearful snappy knackered. Got through the morning with the help of a DVD.

DCs are 5 and 4, DC1 was up at 7am and DC2 at 9.30. Not sure if they'd both sleep but they'd probably consent to lying quietly in bed for a bit. DC1 would prob sleep while 2 played.

AIBU? I just want some quiet and maybe a doze on the sofa. They've been fine though, it's all me having no patience not them being tricky.

Stick the telly on, put them in front of it, and go upstairs for 30 minutes. These situations are exactly what cbeebies was made for!

GrownUp2012 · 13/02/2012 14:59

Nah, I'd have a nice wee blanket and pillow on the sofa, get some toys out, put some snacks and drinks on the table and drift off.

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 13/02/2012 15:00

I think 30 mins or an hour of quiet time on beds is a good idea at any age. They can snooze or read, or think. Play comes after quiet time!

And you get to have a rest. Bliss :)

whitsunday · 13/02/2012 15:03

The DVD was my attempt at that (chilling without actually removing them), but they kept arguing and I didn't want to snap at them Sad

YABU.They don't need naps at 4 and 5 years old. They're not babies. You will pay for it at bed time.
Take them outside for a good run around. Then early tea bath and bed

mrsjay · 13/02/2012 16:11

I used to stick the tv on or a Video when mine were younger they didnt sleep well dd2 would sometimes but a quiet time was needed for me anyway Grin can you put them in seperate rooms maybe have 1 in the living room and 1 in a bedroom seperate them for a bit ,

grumblinalong · 13/02/2012 16:13

Having a nap after you got up at 9.30am isn't something a 4 year old could prob do so yabu there I think. I'd second taking them out to the park or a wood - it would probably help your mood and get them out of your face for a bit.

NorksAkimbo · 13/02/2012 16:14

If I even suggested a nap to my 4 and 5 year olds, there would be mutiny for sure!

They aren't babies. I know you're feeing snappish; so am I...I've had no sleep the last few nights.

Mine are zooming a truck up and down the hallway at top speed, having a whale of a time...I'm in a very dark room with my computer! Just let them get on with it together...they'll find something to destroy do.

Deflatedballoonbelly · 13/02/2012 16:22

Crikey, 7am and 9.30am are huge lie ins! Only a while till bedtime, hang on just a few hours more.

BsshBossh · 13/02/2012 21:07

God, why are 7am and 9.30am early wake ups? What time did they go to bed last night?

GavisconJunkie · 13/02/2012 21:22

BsshBosh I was thinking that lucky cow!

whitsunday · 13/02/2012 22:49

Am I really lucky? Bedtime is 8-9pm (with nightowl dc2 often up later).

They did submit to 'quiet time' from 2-4pm though! Nobody trashed anything that wasn't already trashed so far as I could see but who knows what's lurking under the bed...

Erm...mine are very rarely up after six thirty and often one will be up before six. Older two are six and three. I also have baby who feeds at night. I would say that lucky is for you to decide, but seven and nine thirty are very acceptable times to be up. It's horrible feeling tired though.

Molehillmountain · 13/02/2012 23:25

Dd2, 7 months is usually in bed by nine, the other two by seven thirty. So your bedtimes are not early, but not terrible either. Again, if you're feeling grot then you have my sympathies, but you don't have extreme timings.

BsshBossh · 14/02/2012 10:20

DD (3.5) is in bed by 7 and up any time between 7.30 and 9am. She used to be a 5.30/6am riser so I count myself very lucky now. She hasn't napped since 2yo but always has quiet time (if we're home) after lunch with the TV. So I never count any time before 7am as an early wake up.

BsshBossh · 14/02/2012 10:21

after 7am, I meant.
