DH rang from work at 1, DS (13 mo) was bawling in the background, I had a whinge about how DS was in a majorly bad mood, had a quick chat over the squalling and then said bye. An hour later the door opens and in comes DH, home three hours early from work. He makes me a latte, hands me the laptop and says "Off you go love." He is heaped with work but he came home early to take over from me just because he didn't want me to be stressed. He'll have to catch up at the weekend but I know he'll probably do that when DS is in bed. I moan about him sometimes, especially when he wees on the toilet seat or doesn't put his cereal bowl in the dishwasher, but really he is just so kind and lovely I feel like the luckiest girl ever.

Any lurking DHs out there, take note!

But that is counteracted by the waking me up at 7 to tell me the dog had buggered off when he left home. Thanks for that!

CailinDana · 10/02/2012 17:22

Oh no Figgy, it's only going to make you feel worse when I say my DH has arranged for all of us to go to lunch with a work friend of his tomorrow. The reason he arranged the lunch is because his friend's husband is a SAHD with a daughter of a similar age to my DS and so he's wants us to meet in the hopes that we might hit it off and I would have a new friend to hang out with on weekdays. How bloody considerate is that? He finds talking to new people difficult as he is quite shy but he still went to the effort to chat to this workmate and arrange a day out purely for my benefit. He is the bestest ever in the world ever.

I have been home from work since 3:30pm.

I have done a few dishes, some laundry, chatted to the DC about their day.

DH came home at 5pm,made me coffee, agreed to drop DD off at her friends house, collect DS from football training and will then cook dinner for us all.

I have a driving licence and a car and will be doing nothing for the rest of the day.

I claim 1st prize for the best DH

diddl · 10/02/2012 17:26

My husband has just got in early & made me a cup of tea!

I don´t go out to work, haven´t had a stressful day...

What´s going on??!!

FiggyFloraFinching · 10/02/2012 17:26

I hate you all Grin

I do love my dh really, and he is great 99.999999% of the time but this week has not redeemed himself. However as he has been away for a while he has not had the opportunity to pee on the loo seat.

OP how nice of your dh, am also trying to make some new friends as have a little ds who has no mates at the moment. Am doing quite well now dd is at school but that is a lovely thing to do!

FiggyFloraFinching · 10/02/2012 17:27

My dh is still at work.........................boo

BelleEnd · 10/02/2012 17:27

YABU. Mine is the best. I have at least one OMG-I'm-So-Lucky moment every few days. He buys me chocolate, lets me follow my dream instead of making proper money, works long hours so that I can live in a nice home. But the nicest thing about my DH is how he has let me grow. I was a totally different person when I met him , aged 19- I was insecure, lonesome and thought I could never be anything. He was kind to me, very very kind, and I started to think that maybe I had to do something about my dreams and ambitions instead of obsessing that I'd never get there. I can't recognize myself now, and he loves me then, and me now, and the rainbow of me in between. He is absolutely lovely.
Thank you for starting this thread and reminding me of what a lovely person I'm sharing my life with- I might just shave my legs and put some naice knickers on :o

FiggyFloraFinching · 10/02/2012 17:30

If my dh thinks he is getting lucky, he is truly wrong. Unless he buys me chocolate on the way home and plies me with booze once here Wink

imoanruby · 10/02/2012 17:31

Your dh does sound lovely.

I got out of bath last night to find my dh had brought me a very large box of Guylian Seashell chocolates - he'd left them outside the bathroom door for me.....sometimes he drives me to distraction, other times i think he's not so bad Smile

CailinDana · 10/02/2012 17:31

Strangely enough Belle, I met my DH at 19 too and I would say he has done much the same thing for me, in the sense of helping me to grow and change and become more comfortable with myself. We have definitely had some tough times but in the last few years he has really matured into a wonderful man.

:) Cailin. DH is a lot older than me and my father originally was a bit Hmm. But he's been so lovely to me, and my whole family when my mother died. She told me when she was ill that he was a special man, and she was right. :)

lazarusb · 10/02/2012 17:40

I met mine at 23 and he changed my life. Currently he's supporting me financially and emotionally through Uni. He gave me the confidence to do that and I will always be grateful that he saw the 'me' behind the wall I built up!
He text me earlier to let me know that he has planned a special meal for Valentine's night. Can't wait Grin

Matches · 10/02/2012 17:46

Envy at all these DH's who can get home before 5:30pm

My DH would if he could, but sadly has to work long hours

fitflopqueen · 10/02/2012 17:49

Mine has planned early, has brought home large bouquet of white and red scented roses (works away in week), guess I wont get any more on Tuesday. :)

SensitivityChip · 10/02/2012 17:51

YANBU. He obviously cares about you a lot. Enjoy and stop making my DH look bad! Grin

alistron1 · 10/02/2012 17:53

My DP finished work early today, met me from work, picked up DS2 from school and is currently cooking dinner. He's not a bad old stick really Grin

And to save me an early start on work mornings he takes DS2 to breakfast club, even though it makes him (DP) a bit late (not late late, but he needs to be v.early to set stuff up/prepare)

Also, in my 15 years of being a mum I have rarely cooked a sunday roast and NEVER cooked a christmas dinner.

Finally, after our old cat died (RIP Boy) DP found an ikkle lost kitten whilst at work and brought it home for me. And he doesn't moan too much about the house rabbit and its chewing/spraying/droppings.

However, he can be a bit of a nitwit at times (The DP, not the kitten or the rabbit)

BabyDubsEverywhere · 10/02/2012 17:54

Bless you poor deluded mumsnetters, my DH is truely the best-est-est-ist, always has been and always will be, now carry on working out who will be second Grin

If you like you can consider them first of the runners up, I dont mind Grin

onelittlefish · 10/02/2012 17:56

If it is a competition to see who has the nicest DH mine should be in the running too. He is great.

onelittlefish · 10/02/2012 17:58

OP you might be lucky but I am luckier Smile

raspberrytipple · 10/02/2012 18:07

YABU - sorry but wee'ing on the toilet seat would be a deal breaker...... run.... run ........RUN for the hills before it is too late Grin

sorry - someone had to say it otherwise this is in danger of being VERY unmumsnet Grin

Avenged · 10/02/2012 18:52

DH is great. On the normal day he does:

  1. the dishes (no dishwasher in this house)
  2. make the dinner
  3. hoovers and tidies up.
  4. cares for his mum (she has been in hospital for the last 2wks and he has been up there every day to see her apart from 2 days I went up)
  5. looks after the DC's when I'm ill so I can sleep and get better (I do the same for him)
  6. runs a bath for me
  7. pours me a glass of wine
  8. rubs my feet
  9. brings me breakfast in bed at the weekend
10. treats me like a goddess

When I came home from hospital after being sterilised, even though I was able to do most things, DH wouldn't let me lift a finger to do anything for at least 4 days. He looked after the kids, made me cups of tea, cooked dinner, hoovered, mopped and tidied up, went down to Tesco (10mins walk away) because I fancied some vegetarian suasages in a hotdog.

He is so loving, has a good sense of humour, is brilliant with kids (although he won't take any nonsense from children be they our own or someone elses), will pull more than his fair share of housework and has told me that he treats me like a goddess simply because I gave him the privilege of being a father. AFAIC, I'm more than happy to be his wife.

FiggyFloraFinching · 10/02/2012 19:01

Mine is so coming last and not in the running Grin

CrabbyBigbottom · 10/02/2012 19:16

Aw some of these have made me go all warm and gooey in the middle. Wink

Mine's fab too. May come back and describe all the ways a bit later - slightly pissed and anticipating delicious pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon on bed of puy lentils (cooked by said fabulous DP) at the moment, so can't think/type properly.

BeeBawBabbity · 10/02/2012 19:18

How lovely.

moaninlisa · 10/02/2012 19:30

Mine cleaned the windows inside and out the other day.
Washed our bedding yesterday
Bought me a lovely orchid today because he will be away on Valentines day
Not bad after 24 years.....
