OK so I'm almost 14 weeks pregnant and sure to expand over the next 6 months but do i really need reminding by my 6 year old that I'll get really really fat, need special clothes and "maybe you won't even be able to get on the bus mummy".

Nothing like a boost to my self esteem Grin AIBU to want to tell her to stop being so rude?

Not she's just excited and doesn't see fat as "bad"!

WorraLiberty · 07/02/2012 22:04

Is she being rude or does she just know that pregnant people get large tummies?

Ok the bus thing is a bit extreme Grin

RobinSparkles · 07/02/2012 22:06

You are though Wink

Rather her than strangers at the checkout in a few months time!

YABU. and she's right.

thefroggy · 07/02/2012 22:10

But you will get fat and need special clothes! [shrug]

From a childs pov.

ratspeaker · 07/02/2012 22:30

You could point out that it's not fat but a baby growing.
There's abit of a diffrence between a baby bump and being that size through fat

RachelWalsh · 07/02/2012 22:36

Could be worse, my childless best pal kept making comments about how hugely fat I was going to get, I think she's quite disappointed that I haven't really grown anywhere but my bump (yet... - 20 wks).

With my friend I just made a point of talking to her about how it is actually kind of disturbing to lose control over your body the way you do when you're pregnant, she's been a lot better since. If it was my son, who's 4, I'd just say its rude to comment on people's appearances. I doubt she means it badly though (unlike my borderline gloating pal!).

faintpinkline · 08/02/2012 11:25

Oh alright I'll let her off Smile

She spends a lot of her time singing songs to my slowly expanding girth and is currently trying to teach the 14 week fetus to count to 20!! I think someone is going to be a very good big sister

Could be worse. I remember DD once telling me there was a baby in my tummy. I was not pregnant!

FutureNannyOgg · 08/02/2012 11:33

Not getting on the bus that is very, very large. Not able to fit behind the wheel to drive, maybe, but buses are HUGE.

SIBU.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and my three year old keeps informing me that I am getting fat, "but not as fat as Daddy!" God I LOVE three year olds!!! Grin Grin Grin
