aer O planes. Not fucking airplanes.

The journalism on some of their stories on the website has been utterly shocking recently too.

And the continual swearing on Radio Fucking Four in the day time.

And I pay my licence fee for this Angry

Radio Fucking Four? Grin

I think all the aeroplane/airplane thing is down the the fact we still use American spell check.

But YANBU, we seem to be losing our language and fast.

I think I've 'gotten' a bee in my bonnet about it...

Correctmeifiamwrong · 07/02/2012 12:05

Was the bee in your bonnet or hood?

TroublesomeEx · 07/02/2012 13:20

YANBU it annoys me too.

It's a stealth invasion.

I was watching the BBC Breakfast news last week and they referred to the cost of something in euros and then also added the price in dollars, for those of us who don't have euros.

Erm, in England we still use pounds sterling actually.

I also agree that we appear to be losing our language and fast.

scrappydappydoo · 07/02/2012 13:23

I'm always Hmm at the swearing on r4 - since has been 'shit' been acceptable to use on the bbc during the day??? [old codger emoticon]

ABatInBunkFive · 07/02/2012 13:24

Erm we also use sterling in Scotland and unless i missed the memo Wales. Not just the BBC who aren't so up on Britain.....

YABU for listening to radio fucking 4 in the first place. Wink

TroublesomeEx · 07/02/2012 17:18

ABat I wasn't making any comment on the Scottish currency.

Just saying that I live in England and that's the currency here. Not passing comment on anyone else's currency.

Confused
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/02/2012 17:20

I stopped listening to Capital Radio because of all the slang used in the news.
I've no problem with slang in the general chat, but I don't expect the news to be littered with "grand" (£1000) and "nicked".

margoandjerry · 07/02/2012 17:22

airplanes. Good lord.

Really annoys me that they always convert monetary sums in to dollars/euros too. Like people who insist on referring to the Himaaalayas in order to have the authentic local pronunciation. But don't feel the need to refer to Paree.

margoandjerry · 07/02/2012 17:23

Oh god 70. That's made my teeth itch from reading it, let alone hearing it.

tryhard, much, Capital?

DreamingofSummer · 07/02/2012 17:30

"gotten" is good old English.

However, my hackles rise when I hear that Jilly Jones is a two time winner. The word is TWICE

TroublesomeEx · 07/02/2012 17:32

Dreaming, it is, but it has also fallen out of use in the English language and is now only used in American English.

complexnumber · 07/02/2012 17:34

...here we go again...

Actually, I would completely ignore an Aeroplane if there was a suitable Twixplane or maybe even a Malteserplane nearby
