to leave the wee on the bathroom floor?

DS1 (2.5 years old) had an accident in the bathroom just now. DH went in, cleaned him up and helped him finish his wee on the toilet. Then he (DH) came into the living room and told me I had to go and clean up the wee on the bathroom floor because he wasn't doing it. Apparently it's unfair of me to expect him to clean up the wee because he also has washing up to do (which is his 'job' because I cook all meals) so I should go and do it.

AIBU or is he?

Disclaimer: I'm not actually going to leave the wee on the floor forever, although it's tempting.

See now I would leave it forever, at least until it had evaporated, but then I'm uber stubborn like that. I'm also thankfully not married to a selfish prick. Is your husband of normal intelligence , 'cos that's sure as hell not a normal attitude!

RagamuffinAndFidget · 06/02/2012 17:55

He is of relatively normal intelligence, yes. If I was feeling a little more charitable I'd put it down to him being quite tired and just back from a long day at work, but he didn't even say please so..

Rub your DH's nose in it.

TidyDancer · 06/02/2012 17:57

Oh YANBU! What kind of a pedantic knob does that?!

Your DH is being weird.

QuietNinjaLamp · 06/02/2012 17:57

Ya so nbu. My dh wouldn't dare say this to me andif he did I'd deathstare him til he went to do it himself! Cheeky sod.

WhatTheActualJeffrey · 06/02/2012 17:58

He is really petty to leave a little puddle just because he also washes up (does he want a medal for that?)

You would also be petty to leave it... But he was petty first, ergo you win. :o

kreecherlivesupstairs · 06/02/2012 17:59

Seems a little strange to me. How long does it take to mop some pee up and give it a clean?

WhatTheActualJeffrey · 06/02/2012 17:59

Plus it probably took longer for him to come and tell you his reasons for not cleaning it, than it would take to clean it up!

startail · 06/02/2012 18:01

UANBU
Doing 1/2 of DC related jobs is a male habit that needs stamping on.
Mine does mornings, for which I love him to bits, but getting where to find clothes into his thick skull.

startail · 06/02/2012 18:02

Yep DH does the moan for longer than things take as well.

RagamuffinAndFidget · 06/02/2012 18:03

Jeffrey I think that's what annoyed me the most - he could have just mopped it up in the time it took him to complain at me about it!

OP posts:
MissTapestry · 06/02/2012 18:04

YANBU, it would have taken him 30 secs to clear it up, and how long to come and demand that you do it?

SuePurblybilt · 06/02/2012 18:04

Agree, he could have done it with one hand whilst pulling up DS' pants with the other

Does he have Knobber Form?

TheOneWithTheHair · 06/02/2012 18:09

YANBU
I would leave it too. Tell him he has to do the whole job not just dealing with ds and leaving the rest to the maid!

Sue He's normally fairly reasonable, although he does have a tendency to assume I will change every nappy because I'm 'used to it by now' Hmm

He is actually a Very Nice Bloke, just prone to occasional bouts of thinking that doing one job makes him exempt from the umpteen other things that need doing around here!

take responsibility

you did cooking, he did washing up
he cleaned up the child and helped him finish you clean the floor

50/50 people

diddl · 06/02/2012 19:28

Make your son clean it up-that´ll teach him!!

YANBU-of course your husband should have cleaned it up as it´s such a small job!

Poos, sick & wet beds were usually joint clean ups for us.

SuePurblybilt · 06/02/2012 19:59

Ah, 'used to it by now'. I remember that one, along with 'but the smell doesn't bother you like it does me'.

I like amicissima's approach Grin.

RagamuffinAndFidget · 06/02/2012 20:06

I told him that some of the Mumsnetters were of the opinion that he was being a bit silly. He went quiet, went into the bathroom.. and cleaned it up Grin

toddlerama · 06/02/2012 20:11

HAHA! Mine would never have caved after hearing that I'd taken it to MN. Good on you MrRagamuffin. Now no more silliness. Grin

TheOneWithTheHair · 06/02/2012 20:13

Grin nor mine.

PattiMayor · 06/02/2012 20:17

minimisschief - the more posts I read of yours, the more I'm convinced you're trip-trapping around the boards

Get one of those Nurofen medicine syringes, suck it up and squirt it in his tea.

That'll learn him

In our house, he would be known as 'half a job' and would never get away with it. He would have had to walk round the wee to avoid it!!
YANBU.
