To not clean my car at all inside prior to it being valeted

I've booked to have mine done inside only. It's instead of me having spa treatment as dd (15 weeks) is super clingy. My car is disgusting Blush. It's a 12 year old Picasso which is a it damp inside, seats all marked from kids eating in it, there is actual mould growing in door pocket. Mats and floors are revolting. So, I thought rather than me clean it, I'll pay them to. It's £35 and I'm hoping for clean and fresh interior. Not paying for external as car is work horse and I can easily stick it through car wash.

Meant to say having it done at centre parcs. I am slovenly Blush

YANBU, you're paying for it. Well done.

ZillionChocolate · 05/02/2012 19:25

I'd tidy it up, (takes me a while to empty my boot) but I certainly wouldn't clean it.

WoollyHead · 05/02/2012 19:25

YANBU You are paying to have it cleaned. why would you clean it yourself first Hmm?

sallymonella · 05/02/2012 19:28

YANBU

I've never had my car valeted, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't valeting cleaning? So why would you clean it first, before paying good money to someone else who is supposed to be cleaning it?

sallymonella · 05/02/2012 19:28

X post!

JustHecate · 05/02/2012 19:31

YANBU but you are brave Grin

I have to clean my car before taking it to be cleaned - lest I be judged

I used to have a cleaner and I had to clean up before she got there because I didn't want her to think we were messy Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 05/02/2012 19:31

I'm just very embarrassed at how gross it is and that I really want it all nice and clean and its not a posh car, it's very old and manky.

So consensus is dont clean it (not even mould)

(do I complain if they don't make it really clean? Grin)

I would tidy it out, get rid of the actual rubbish and remove stuff you need to keep etc - you will get a much better clean that way.

Sirzy · 05/02/2012 19:35

I would get rid of any rubbish in it before hand.

MamaMaiasaura · 05/02/2012 19:38

There is quite a bit of rubbish Blush I'll clear that then (and mouldy food I expect)

When get a valet I empty the rubbish out (of which there is usually tons) so the guy can clean, that's what he's there to do, not wade through my crap!

Be prepared for them to charge you more than the initial quote though, apart from being pretty cheap for a decent valet it's quite normal for them to charge more for excessivly dirty cars.

MamaMaiasaura · 05/02/2012 19:48

takingiteasy the 35 is only for interior, I've already paid as through centreparcs it's a fixed price, surely they can't charge more?

OP posts:
takingiteasy · 05/02/2012 19:55

You'd need to check their T&C's/Small Print or whatever, I've never used a valet that's part of anything else like Centerparcs but I've been charged more than the advertised price before.

Meglet · 05/02/2012 19:57

Get the clutter out first.

I have mine done when it's MOT'd. It's in pretty good nick for an old car.

Xmasbaby11 · 05/02/2012 20:03

get rid of the rubbish, but don't clean it

MamaMaiasaura · 08/02/2012 21:19

Well they cleaned it but it's soaking wet, I've asked them to sort it out.

McHappyPants2012 · 08/02/2012 21:42

I would dispose of rubbish but that's all
