What are they actually for? There's not an intelligent one amongst them, as evidenced by the new advert for their vapid show, where they've obviously been asked "what's your best asset?" and they're all there going "urrrrrggghhh" "durrrrrrr" "hmmmmm" "whassanasset?"

To coin a Charlie Brooker term, they're all so thick that their faces appear on the banknotes in ThickoLand.

I can't believe that it can be that interesting to watch the goings-on of a group of people whose only challenge in life seems to be 'dark or extra-dark Fake Bake.' I think it's a sad sign of the times that we celebrate people for being vapid and vain and make heroes of people because they're a bit dense.

AIBU?

Joey Essex? Is he the one who looks like a groomed gibbon? He has a clothing line, apparently. Hmm I saw his crap t-shirts in Selfridge's a few weeks back, featuring witty slogans such as "Don't be jel be reem" Fucknell. "Reem" is supposed to be a shortened "Supreme" so surely it's "reme"? Fuckwits.

Jedward are very rich, too.

I rest my case. Grin

I only watched 5 minutes and couldn't understand it. What's it all about? Are they making it all up? Is it real? Why are the DM obsessed with them?

Daren't watch the Liverpool one as it makes me sad when they have thick scouse stereotypes showing themselves up on TV.

SiamoNellaMerda · 05/02/2012 15:38

I agree OP. The current and ongoing celebration of paramecium-like stupidity is depressing stuff. I want to know who is making these deadheads rich?

Oh and please don't anyone say they're obviously not stupid because they're rich ffs - there's always going to be someone behind them driving the ideas and running the businesses.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/02/2012 15:39

My understanding of it is that it is semi-real. For instance, two of the characters might have an argument but then they will have to do it again in front of the cameras. Some scripting may be added.

The first time i watched it i thought it was a pile of shit, I gave it another go and i love it!! I don't watch any soaps or shit like that but i really enjoy towie and MIC.

fullofregrets · 05/02/2012 15:48

I'm not saying they are geniuses or anything obviously but mark wright and any childs( Christ I know all their names) must have some sort of business knowledge. Probably.

Joey Essex is beyond stupid. He probably thought it was spelt 'supreem' hence reem. He is also extremely ugly imo and does indeed resemble a gibbon. An especially stupid gibbon.

Although in the quiz Amy answered the question 'what is a matador' with the answer 'a penguin.'

fullofregrets · 05/02/2012 15:48

Amy childs

SiamoNellaMerda · 05/02/2012 15:48

What do you like about it grograg? Is it the cutting edge political debate? The astonishing self awareness of the 'actors'? Is it that you learn something small from every episode - some smidgeon of life enhancing knowledge? Please do explain - I'm very keen to hear what's in this moronic drivel for anyone.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/02/2012 15:50

I'd forgotten about Amy Childs, the cut-price Katie Price.

confusedpixie · 05/02/2012 16:06

I hate that show. Being from Essex originally and being a similar age to the TOWIE cast, I always get "OMG, you like the girls in TOWIE?!" when I say where I'm from. No. Absolutely not like them!

Though I did make an arse of myself when I started moaning about it whilst having my nails done (the only time I've ever had them done, for older sister's wedding in Essex) with my sister's. It turns out that the salon we were in was often frequented by Amy or whatever her name is and the nail technicians weren't impressed with me! Not that they said anything, but my sister's bitched at me afterwards! Shock

KittyFane · 05/02/2012 16:15

Mark Wright on I'm a Celebrity was a special kind of thick

:o :o :o

fullofregrets · 05/02/2012 16:18

I like Amy childs much more than katie price. Although she is not the sharpest tool in the box she doesn't seem spiteful.

However I cannot stand kirk (on celebrity big brother recently apparently if anyone saw it!) I think he is a likely candidate to hit his girlfriends. He is very jel.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/02/2012 16:21

I don't think that GetOrf will mind me quoting her when I say that Kirk looks like an ASBO toddler.

OP posts:
DexterTheCat · 05/02/2012 16:51

They employ people to do the 'thinking' for them ie agents.

I think most of them are from pretty wealthy families in the first place. I think a lot of them went to private schools which actually is quite scary in itself considering their apparent stupidity and their inability to speak properly.

On the other hand why would anyone pretend to be that stupid???

LaBoccaDellaVerita · 05/02/2012 16:58

I suppose if there's money in big tits, shiny teeth and mind-numbing stupidity you would if you could? Would you? I don't know - would I? Probably Grin

toddlerama · 05/02/2012 16:59

fullofregrets I agree. Kirk looks terrifying - like he's just waiting for an excuse to batter someone. He's creepy with every girl he's interested in. Smarmy and then angry in a second.

Kennyp · 05/02/2012 17:03

I love towie. Thrilled kirk is MIA and that lauren is obviously not allowed to mention mark any more! Back of the net!

It's completely avoidable if you don't like it. Unlike eastenders/coronation st/emmerdale etc.

I live 15 minutes from where it is filmed but am not remotely affected by it. No one here talks about it at all tbh.

Al0uisee · 05/02/2012 17:08

I feel sorry for the Bulldog.

BustyDeLaGhetto · 05/02/2012 17:08

Arfity arf at CutRate Katie. Joey Essex is easily the most eerie, vacant thing I have ever seen on television - his head is like the Bates Motel on a bank holiday. I bet he claps for joy every time he does a little guff - in fact Joey, ther is a slogan for one of your tee-shirts right there, for free. Clap Your Guff.

CroissantNeuf · 05/02/2012 17:13

DexterTheCat -the "inability to speak properly" is partly due to those stupid giant horses teeth Wink.

GypsyMoth · 05/02/2012 23:00

What about nanny pat?? She seems a fine old gal to me!

GypsyMoth · 05/02/2012 23:01

Even though we have just seen her drunk and knickerless at what? 80?

gallicgreetings · 05/02/2012 23:08

There's a rumour there's a similar show to be filmed in Leigh-on-Sea.

That's my local ruined then.

Dee03 · 05/02/2012 23:17

Couldn't get all the hype during the 1st series but then I actually watched an episode and now I'm glued to it....
It's so crap, it's bloody brilliant Smile
(although not quite the same since mark wright left Sad)
