to think that Geordie Shore is the worst programme I've ever seen and to ban my dds from watching it?

Well that's it really. My dds (12 and 14) had recorded this and wanted to watch it. I said I wasn't sure and perhaps I should watch it with them. Dd1 was apalled at this idea which set the alarm bells ringing! We watched something else and I thought I'd see what it was like after they went to bed.

I'm not easily shocked but I was this time - it was awful - drunken, orange skinned, skimpily dressed people having sex and being horrid to one another.

So I deleted it and said they were never to watch it over my dead body etc etc.

Dd1 was outraged as EVERYONE watches it apparently and dd2 also said her best mate watches it. I said I don't think her mum has seen it then (she's a good friend, not very strict but not a complete pushover) but she said she had.

I can't believe anyone lets their teenagers let alone pre-teens watch this or am I on my own here?

YANBU but I sat and watched it with my DD12 and DS15 and dont think I would ban it . Once I gave way and let DD watch The Inbetweeners there didnt seem much point censoring her TV Grin

About half way through I asked DD what she thought of the girls and she laughed and said "thick" , I dont have a problem with her seeing that kind of stuff on TV because its everywhere anyway so why pick on Geordie Shore

Fortunately both DC treat it like comedy but secretly I am horrified !!!!

I must admit I think I'm going to censor a lot more of what DD watches than DS, as there's just more shit out there to make girls and women look and feel bad about themselves and one another. (Naturally I'll be trying to keep DS in touch with his feminist side, too!)

limitedperiod, I've just finished episode 2 and the ignominious end to the 3rd crusade for both Richard and Saladin- fancy that both might have got Jerusalem, yet neither did!
(Trickery and bloodshed go so well with night feeding! Grin)

YANBU, it's graphic and crude, they don't need to waste their time watching that when there are so many nice things to watch, think they are a bit too young as well. I'm sure they know about sex, but no point having it shoved in their faces.

gettingeasier I also admire the power of most teenagers being able to work things out for themselves, with a bit of discreet guidance here and there.

pluto I was struck by the same thing while in the kitchen making a curry while DH was in the living room watching a rerun of Top Gear. He did the washing-up though.

At 21 I was Satsuma-coloured. It was sunbeds in them days though so I feel the people of Geordie Shore are more evolved in going for fake tan instead.

Trois I promise you it is NOT representative of the inhabitants of the NE! I am a mackem rather than a geordie (as is, I believe, one of the young 'ladies' on the show) but even we (well, most of us) sympathise with the geordies on this one!
