stranded - I say may've could've would've and I'm a midlander!

Me too. I think that when I say "may've, could've, would've" it sounds like I'm saying "of". :(

Do full stops and capital letters at the start of a sentance not register with you, OP? I don't see that often, I must admit.

Mind your own ruddy business and perhaps polish up your own lacking skills before criticising anybody else. Hmm

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/02/2012 07:33

Basically what Slinking said. Bad form and gutless jibing.

Whatmeworry · 01/02/2012 07:37

One of the things you get if you study the evolution of English is that spelling, grammar, etc are far more moveable a feast than you'd expect.

Besides, my iPad decides on my grammar and Steve is Dog

carabos · 01/02/2012 07:38

Seeing threads or posts that correct other people's grammar makes me cringe with embarrassment at their rudeness.

Call me old-fashioned, but it just isn't on to correct people for whom you have no responsibility - it's really really rude and Hyacinth Bucket-ish.

Amateurish · 01/02/2012 08:19

Get off of your high horse OP.

diddl · 01/02/2012 08:50

But just because could´ve sounds like "could of" still doesn´t excuse it.

Or are children no longer taught that the "´ve" is short for "have"?

MarmiteMagic · 01/02/2012 09:18

YANBU to want to scream but I think you WBU to actually correct anyone other than your own children.

The one that sets my teeth on edge is loose instead of lose. It makes me hoik my judge pants up so high it cuts of the blood supply to my legs....

DamnBamboo · 01/02/2012 09:27

'It's' I think you mean.

You've said 'its' when it should have been 'it's' twice now and I didn't even get to the bottom of the first page.

I normally don't give a shit, some people did well in English at school, others didn't [shrug].

However, YABVVU for criticising somebody when it seems as though, quite possibly you also fall into the latter of the above two categories as well.

MarmiteMagic · 01/02/2012 09:27

Cuts off not of. Sorry!

allthatglittersisnotgold · 07/02/2012 13:04

There's an advert at the moment..think it's for envirophone. Announces "bored of your old phone"..I want to kill them. You'd think one person at that company in marketing or editing or something would have mentioned thet it needs to say "bored with"...cannot stand it.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 07/02/2012 13:06

I cant stand it when people say "pacifically" instead of "Specifically"...it really annoys me Angry

Kayano · 07/02/2012 13:07

It's 'mayuv' where I am from!
