Caveat emptor!

And in this case, 'plastic bottle' and 'basic' practically SCREAM 'caveat' so YABU and foolish! Go and buy a decent bottle.

thepeoplesprincess · 31/01/2012 23:02

I'll stick to me Frosty Jack's ta.

aldiwhore · 31/01/2012 23:03

One bottle is a session, if its a two litre plastic one! (well a session for one, one who wants an early night)

With you ice re the basics range in general, tis lovely although the 'aerosol' room freshner is pot luck, its either THE most beautiful room spray ever, or, on the next can smells like welly socks. Odd.

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:05

Aldi, so its gawjus russian roulette on the smellies? Grin

Oh well no session here good job, with 3 dcs

Bogeyface · 31/01/2012 23:07

You should give the Aldi one a try, i only every bought "Half price at £4.99" before I found that one!

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:09

bogey I'm scared now. Blush hangs on to deal wine from sainsbob--

Smoked salmon trimmings for £1? Chocolate sponge pudding for 65p? Pancakes for 27p? 2l bottle of lemonade for 20p?

I can keep going for a loooong time. I am utterly evangelical about Sainsburys Basics.

Sorry Blush

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:18

Salmon trimmimgs for £1. adds to list yum.

OP posts:
aldiwhore · 31/01/2012 23:22

AWW Ice you're the woman who stole the last smoked salmon trimming from under my nose then?

We had guests, they wanted smoked salmon paté... I wasn't going to spend much as I don't much like them, because of you I ended up spending at least £2.99!!

I live on the basic smoked salmon... with lemon and removal of the 'bits wot can't be identified' its perfect.

(scuse any typos, not-so-stealth-boast at drinking rougly £1.23 of homebrew - daft grin and no school run in the morning, I'm ILL don't ya know)

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:25

Aldi. bits wot can't be identified. you have put me off.

Send me some homebrew pleeeeease. Smile

why do you cook for people you are not keen on?

OP posts:
Bogeyface · 31/01/2012 23:27

Aldi, I am more concerned that you a) had people you dont like much round for dinner and b)allowed them to dictate the menu! I would have given them mustard sandwiches and told them it was a poor mans hot dinner :o

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 31/01/2012 23:27

Aldi toro loco red is about £3.49 I think, and is very nice.

aldiwhore · 31/01/2012 23:30

They're DH's only old school friends, I pander to him, he makes the homebrew (and the bread!) its a fair deal I promise.

Plus when she said 'ooh we'd LOVE smoked salmon mousse' I thought ping I like them enough to spend a quid on (but slightly pissed off about the extra 2)

awomanscorned y'know, the grey bits, perfectly fine, and present on all whole fish, just cut off for the more expensive cuts... they're not like alien life forms or anything (I think).

aldiwhore · 31/01/2012 23:31

Anyway, leaving this thread as people keep saying Aldi and I keep thinking its a personal recommendation. [egotrip]

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:31

Oh aldi I see, I don't mind those bits. Smile Give and take, bread and home brew - fair deal. Smile

iceandsliceplease · 01/02/2012 00:41

aldi I took the trimmings out of tomorrows trolley! Snot my fault! DS will megastrop, but I will venture down to real live Sainsburys this week to see what they've got fishwise

wellthatsdoneit · 01/02/2012 01:11

The aldi toro loco was mentioned in the guardian I think.

You're all making me wish I lived near a sainsburys now with all the talk of basics smoked salmon trimmings.

I can recommend Tesco's Simply Chenin Blanc for a palatable white, although it's evidently on the steep side at £3.70 a throw.

Bogeyface · 01/02/2012 01:22

£3.70????!!!!!!!!

Check out my profile pic Wellthats and tell me if you think I look like I am made of money?!!

FFS, I hate stealth boasting...Angry

Bogeyface · 01/02/2012 01:22

:O:O

Bogeyface · 01/02/2012 01:23

:o even :o

wellthatsdoneit · 01/02/2012 01:29

I know, I just can't help shoving my smugtastically middle-class over-privileged entitled lifestyle in your face.

Bogeyface · 01/02/2012 01:39

Perhaps you need telling that the difference between £2.99 and £3.70 to some women is the difference between crisps and no crisps!

Mists · 01/02/2012 09:11

It was MrsDeVere on the value range thread BUT I'm sure she said she has it with lemonade as a spritzer with ice-cubes in.

How's the basics hangover?
