To think that he should have had a proper health check?

DS1 got a letter telling us to come for his 5 year health check and boosters which I thought would involve actually, you know, checking his health - measuring height and weight, eye test, hearing test etc. - all the usual stuff I remember from 'check ups' when I was younger. All they did was check his vaccine schedule was up to date. That was it! When I enquired about the other things the nurse just said "No, we don't do any of that. If you're worried about something you can make an appt with the doctor." If that's the case then why on earth are they calling it a 'health check' and listing it as something separate on the letter? Do children seriously not get those check ups regularly anymore? AIBU to think that they should?

All the other things that you mention are done by the school nurse around here (South Wales). Not all at the same time, they've been to school a few times to do different things and we've had to give consent easch time.
