To get you to give me ideas for a career?

So this has just come back into my head again after reading another thread.
I seem to amble about not knowing what I want to do as a career and not enjoying anything enough to follow it.

I am 20 (nearly 21), with a 2.5 year old DS.
I have good GCSE's, 2A*'s, 8A's, a B and a C.
I have NVQ 2 and 3 in Accountancy.
No A-levels, left sixth form to have DS.
And am currently half a year into a HND in Business, which is going well and I enjoy!
This will take 2 years, one day a week. Then another year for an ordinary degree in Business Management and another year for the Honours degree.

I love learning.
But I just don't know what I should be aiming for.
I don't live anywhere near London and never will.
Country bumpkin, 30 miles from the nearest and pretty much only city around.

So any ideas?
Just for some motivation and points for research.

Book keeping - start by offering to do the accounts for a small business?

Is moving nearer to where the jobs are going to be an option?

If you drive, then commuting into the nearest city is probably your best bet.

Start off with temping, and get a feel for working in an office environment, and seeing what each department does. If you are going to go into business management, then you need to have some practical experience too, or employers will not really want to know.

Moving isn't really an option.
And only part time working until DS is at school.

I was trying to move away from bookkeeping by going from accountancy to business so it was more broad.
Just bookkeeping bores the life out of me.
I do enjoy management accounting but not financial accounting.

I have no constructive advice, but oh to be 20.... Grin

You could try being a treasurer for a small charity to get some experience and look good on a CV.

Look at graduate training schemes for various businesses, hospitallity, retail, banks - just see what you would like to learn more about - place you could see yourself working.
